Building a vegetable value chain model that meets VietGAP standards

On April 24, the Department of Science and Technology organized a Council to evaluate and accept the provincial-level science and technology project: the pilot production project "Building a model of a VietGAP-standard vegetable value chain in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province", chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Hai Chau, University of Forestry.

The project implementation team has built a value chain model for leafy vegetables and fruits production that meets VietGAP standards for farming households and cooperatives in Chau Pha commune (Phu My city) and Nghia Thanh commune (Chau Duc district).

Farmers participating in the project have understood the benefits of good agricultural practices, improved their garden management skills, and have a clear awareness of food safety and hygiene, environmental protection, and public health. During the production process, the plants grew and developed well, and production efficiency increased by 15-20% compared to the previous traditional farming methods.

The project implementation team has built a value chain model, linked with product consumption units, supported the establishment of 2 Agricultural Service Cooperatives Chau Pha and Nghia Thanh, obtained certification and announced VietGAP compliance for 19 production households participating in the project with a scale of 10 hectares; built an information technology application service to trace the origin of vegetable products, built an e-commerce website, a logo brand identity, and a collective trademark for 2 cooperatives...
