On May 29th, the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone (Lang Son province) provided information on the customs clearance situation at border gates with import and export activities with China, noting that there was no longer congestion of trucks carrying agricultural products for export on National Highway 1A.
China's import of durian through Tan Thanh sub-border gate helps reduce congestion at Huu Nghi International Border Gate.
According to the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone, on May 28th, the land border gates in Lang Son processed import and export procedures for 986 vehicles, including 524 export vehicles (434 fruit vehicles, 90 other goods vehicles) and 462 import vehicles (460 goods vehicles, 2 new vehicles).
As of 8 PM on May 28th, the number of export trucks remaining in Lang Son province was 898 (538 trucks carrying fruit, 61 trucks carrying other goods, and 299 trucks outside the border gate area that had not yet registered their goods), an increase of 73 trucks compared to the evening of May 27th.
To alleviate the congestion of export cargo vehicles, from the afternoon of May 27th, authorities arranged and directed vehicles carrying goods awaiting export through Huu Nghi International Border Gate to park in the duty-free zone. By the night of May 27th, there were basically no more vehicles parked for extended periods on National Highway 1A.
The Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone also stated that, among the five border gates with import and export activities with China, Huu Nghi International Border Gate has the highest volume of vehicles. On May 28th, this border gate processed customs clearance for 637 vehicles (290 for export and 347 for import).
In recent days, border gates in Lang Son have also recorded a significant increase in the number of export trucks. Specifically, on May 28th, Huu Nghi International Border Gate received an additional 320 trucks, bringing the total number of trucks awaiting clearance to 730. Tan Thanh sub-border gate received 272 new trucks, raising the total number of trucks awaiting clearance to 177.
Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone, said that the majority of export trucks are durian, with over 200 trucks a day. While the number of trucks waiting to be exported is high, it is not a cause for concern because over 500 trucks are exported daily at a rapid pace, and there have been no instances of trucks having to return goods to the domestic market.
To alleviate congestion at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, the authorities of Lang Son province proposed, and the Chinese side accepted, the import of durian through the Tan Thanh sub-border gate.
"Since China officially started importing durian, businesses have been transporting goods through the Huu Nghi International Border Gate. Importing through the Tan Thanh sub-border gate will help speed up customs clearance. On May 27th, businesses exported 23 trucks of durian through the Tan Thanh sub-border gate, 35 trucks on May 28th, and more will be exported in the coming days," Mr. Duy said.
