On August 7, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri province issued a plan to deploy a peak period to combat and prevent acts of encroachment on Con Co Island Marine Reserve in 2024.

Accordingly, from August 5 to September 20, 2024, relevant units under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will coordinate with officers and soldiers of Con Co Border Guard Station and Con Co Island District Police to participate in implementing the plan. The scope of implementation is the entire sea area of ​​​​Con Co Island Marine Reserve (4,532 hectares) and the buffer zone outside the reserve with a width of 300 - 500 m, calculated from the outer boundary of the administrative service subdivision.

Through the peak period, it is aimed at strengthening the work of accurate and timely information and communication on issues related to combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in functional sub-zones and buffer zones of Con Co Island Marine Reserve. Strengthening patrols, inspections and controls to manage fishing activities. Detecting, preventing and strictly handling violations of anti-IUU fishing.
