As of August 3, many of the 1,600 workers who stopped working collectively at a garment company in Hiep Hoa district ( Bac Giang province) have not returned to work. The company has announced an increase in the basic salary by VND250,000/month (compared to the VND260,000/month proposed by the workers).
Previously, on August 2, at KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thang town, Hiep Hoa district, Bac Giang province), an incident occurred in which about 1,600 workers stopped working collectively to request the company to increase the basic salary by 260,000 VND/month without increasing production, and to resolve some issues regarding shift wages, meal allowances, etc.
Immediately after that, the company organized a meeting with workers, agreeing to increase the basic salary by 250,000 VND/month (compared to the 260,000 VND that the workers proposed) and apply it from the July 2024 salary period.
On August 3, Mr. Ngo Quang Tuan, Chairman of the Labor Federation of Hiep Hoa district (Bac Giang province) said that basically the workers of this company agreed with this increase, but there is still a group that does not agree, so the union is continuing to persuade and mobilize.
“Today, the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hiep Hoa district was also present, encouraging the workers to return to work. We hope that next Monday (August 5), the workers will return to work as usual,” Mr. Tuan shared.
KD Sports Vietnam Co., Ltd. is a 100% Korean-owned enterprise, specializing in industrial garments, with a total of about 1,600 workers, working in 3 factories.
According to SGGP Newspaper's investigation, at the end of March 2022, at this company, there was also an incident where 1,600 workers collectively stopped working because of some problems between the company and the workers about wages.
