7 giant lotus flowers light up the Han River during Buddha's birthday celebration

On the evening of May 5, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Da Nang City held a lighting ceremony of 7 giant lotus flowers and a flower boat parade on the Han River on the occasion of the 2025 Buddha's Birthday.

This is the opening event for the Buddha's birthday week in Da Nang City. 7 giant lotus flowers are brightly lit on the surface of the Han River.

According to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, after 10 years, the program of lighting 7 giant lotus flowers, symbolizing the 7 pure footsteps of Buddha, has returned on the Han River, bringing joy to monks, nuns and Buddhists in Da Nang City.

After the seven giant lotus flowers were lit, monks, followers, and Buddhists joined the flower boat parade on the Han River in a space filled with the sound of Buddhist chants.

The elaborately decorated boats carry images of Buddha, Buddhist symbols and messages of compassion - peace - solidarity - service to the community.

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Da Nang City presented 200 gifts (500,000 VND/gift) to Buddhist members and families in difficult circumstances, along with a support of 100 million VND for the temporary housing elimination program in Da Nang City.

Previously, on the morning of May 5, the Executive Committee held an incense offering and wreath laying ceremony at the Da Nang City Memorial.
