A working day of officers, soldiers and workers of Production Team No. 1 ( Economic -Defense Regiment 710) starts very early with setting up rubber tapping blades. Taking advantage of the time waiting for latex to be harvested, a group of officers and workers of the unit go down to the village to propagate, mobilize, grasp the situation and help people in production.
Following Major Mai Duc Hau, Captain of Production Team No. 1, we arrived at Krong village, Ia Mo commune. For a long time, the people of Krong village have considered the officers and soldiers of Production Team No. 1 as family members because this is a sister unit of the village. After a warm handshake, village elder Ro Mah Klet began the story: “There are still nearly 20 poor households in the village. It has been raining for the past few days but people still take advantage of the opportunity to go to the fields to produce. People feel reassured after some young people who gathered to drink alcohol and then drove their motorbikes recklessly were summoned and criticized.” The story told by village elder Ro Mah Klet provided enough information for the officers and soldiers of the unit to coordinate in implementing the work.
Located in the border area, over the years, the 710th Economic-Defense Regiment has always implemented the motto "a working army, a fighting army, a labor army producing and helping people". The unit's good, new and creative ways of doing things have contributed to helping many households in the border area escape poverty. Lieutenant Colonel Le Thanh Tung, Political Commissar of the Regiment, said: We always determine that in order to produce and do business effectively and ensure national defense and security in the assigned border area, the unit must do a good job of mass mobilization work, helping people develop socio-economically. From 2023 to now, we have spent more than 1 billion VND to support 138 breeding cows for people. Since the beginning of the year alone, the unit has mobilized more than 3 billion VND to visit and give gifts to policy families, poor households and support planting seeds and fertilizers for people.
One of the effective activities that military units stationed in border areas have implemented is to support people with breeding cows. Mr. Kpuih Ri's family (Blu village, Ia Tor commune) is a poor household. In 2022, Binh Duong Company supported him with a breeding cow and materials for making a barn. Along with that, the unit regularly sends officers to guide care and disease prevention techniques. "I am very happy because the cow the unit supported has given birth to a calf and is currently preparing to give birth to a new litter. My family will take good care of the cow for breeding, hoping to have a better life," said Mr. Ri.
With the motto of doing what people need, helping with what is most meaningful, Economic - Defense Regiment 710 and Binh Duong Company have effectively implemented mass mobilization models to help people escape poverty. Colonel Le Duc Toan - Party Secretary, Deputy Director of Binh Duong Company, said: Helping people escape poverty and supporting localities in building new rural areas is a key task of the unit. In the first 6 months of this year, we have supported localities in building 2 "Sunshine Village" projects with a length of nearly 3 km, installing 54 pillars and lighting bulbs. Currently, the unit is urgently completing to hand over 62 houses in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses assigned by superiors. In addition, the Company has also disbursed more than 4 billion VND to support food, foodstuffs, and gifts for policy families, poor households, and workers in difficult circumstances.
Assessing the coordination and support of units under the 15th Corps with the locality, Mr. Nguyen Van Luyen, Chairman of the Ia Tor Commune People's Committee, said: We always appreciate the support of the units. The units not only recruit workers to tap rubber latex, creating stable income; deploy many skillful mass mobilization programs to help people develop the economy, reduce poverty, but also support the locality in building new rural areas. In the coming time, the commune and units will strive to effectively implement the coordination regulations and deploy many meaningful projects.
