In late May, Deputy Minister Mularczyk announced that Poland had begun calculating the damage caused by Soviet actions during and after World War II.
Accordingly, the Institute for Military Studies was tasked with preparing a report on this matter.
Previously, Poland had repeatedly stated its demand for $1.3 trillion in compensation from Germany.
Oleg Tyapkin, head of the European Department 3 at the Russian Foreign Ministry, described Poland's move to demand reparations from Russia for World War II losses as " political fantasy."
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Poland has a "double policy" in its assessment of events during World War II and deliberately ignores the role of the Soviet people in saving European nations from Nazi Germany.
The strained relationship between Russia and Poland has deteriorated further since Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, with Warsaw considering itself one of Kyiv's key allies.
