'My wife takes care of everything from taking care of the children to the family finances'

As the host of the program Vietnamese Family Home, MC Quyen Linh has often spent his own money to help people. That is why he is known by the people as “MC of the poor”.

Backstage during the show's recording, Quyen Linh said that being a good connector is enough. "People say I'm a national artist or something, but I just want to be a good connector. The better the connection, the more favorable it is for those in difficult circumstances to change their lives," he said.

Recalling his journey of more than 20 years of implementing charity programs, Quyen Linh seemed to spend all his time, even forgetting his own birthday.

Quyen Linh added that during the time his children were growing up, he was rarely at home. Because he had been out in the sun and rain for many months, when he returned, his appearance had changed so much that his children sometimes did not recognize him.

“When my children were young, I was away from home for 5 months. When I returned home, my skin was so dark that my children could not recognize me. Every time I played with them, they cried. They kept looking at me because they thought I was a strange man with a dark face that they could not recognize.

“There was a time when my children asked me why I kept going away, and why I came back with a dark face so they didn’t like me. Or every time I went away, they were afraid that I would get sick. One time when I came back with malaria, they were worried and told me not to go anymore,” Quyen Linh said.

However, the male MC hopes that when his children grow up, they will understand that even though their father is not home on their birthdays, or when their children go to school for exams but their father is not there to take them... it is because their father is doing programs for the poor, that will also make them happy.

Quyen Linh shared: “I always tell my children to be happy because their father is not going out for fun. His father is going to remote areas, going to sympathize with the most difficult lives in this life.

When they grew up, my children understood. They understood the value of their father's steps, and wherever he went, he connected love to share with everyone.

Talking about his wife - his strong support, Quyen Linh confided: “I have a great support. She not only takes care of the children but also takes care of everything for me. My wife takes care of all the housework and children. Even the family finances are taken care of by my wife. I earn money but sometimes I still have to take my wife’s money to do charity work (laughs).

I always feel very safe. For this reason, I feel secure when doing charity programs because I have a strong support system, my wife. Thank you very much for that."

When asked if his wife complained about his appearance "losing its beauty" after working so hard on filming, Quyen Linh laughed and replied: "There's nothing else to complain about. Sometimes after 2 months of being away, my face would be dark or my face would be swollen from an allergic reaction. However, my wife has never complained, she just feels sorry for her husband."

Currently his health is weaker than when he was young, Quyen Linh also promised not to travel as much as before so his wife and children are more secure.
