Vietnamese doctor elected president of ASEAN Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association

The conference was held from September 12 to 14, 2024 in Hanoi with the participation of 50 foreign reporters from continents and Southeast Asia.

Together with 60 Vietnamese reporters, they shared experiences and the latest research on knee and hip replacement, ligament reconstruction after trauma, and meniscus and articular cartilage preservation.

At the conference, the speakers shared scientific reports related to regenerative medicine in preserving knee cartilage. In particular, this year's conference had a session for outstanding young speakers from the Southeast Asia region to present new research and debate on new issues in sports medicine.

Representatives from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines paid a working visit to Military Hospital 175, Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and Sante Surgical Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition to the conference, the annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the ASEAN Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Association also took place with an action program to promote professional exchange, professional support and promote the development of Southeast Asian arthroscopy and sports medicine on par with the continent and the world.

At the annual executive committee meeting, Dr. Tang Ha Nam Anh, president of the Vietnam Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement Association, was elected president of ASSA.

The new ASSA president will have a specific action plan to support the transfer of expertise to Laos and Cambodia.

Implement academic exchange programs through fellowship programs, in-person and online training programs for physicians in the region. Promote scientific research cooperation in the fields of endoscopy and sports medicine, and enhance the role of ASSA in the Asia-Pacific association.
