(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Khmer Times (Cambodia) expressed excitement about their team clashing with the Vietnamese national team in a friendly match in Binh Duong on March 19th.
Recently, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that the national team will face Cambodia in a friendly match at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong) on March 19th. This is a warm-up match for the "Golden Dragons" before entering the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Cambodian media are extremely excited about their team's clash with the 2024 AFF Cup champions. The Khmer Times published an article titled: "Cambodia's national team prepares to challenge the 2024 AFF Cup champions in March."
This newspaper commented: "On March 19th, the Cambodian national team will face the Vietnamese national team at Go Dau Stadium (Binh Duong). The Cambodian Football Federation (FFC) has agreed to participate in this match at the invitation of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). This is the Cambodian national team's first match in 2025."
Cambodian fans were thrilled by the invitation from the 2024 AFF Cup champions. They had a successful tournament, winning without a single defeat. The Vietnamese team's achievement astonished Southeast Asian football.
Therefore, Cambodian fans are very excited about the upcoming match. This year, the Cambodian national team has not participated in any official tournaments. The team was eliminated from the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.
In the 2024 AFF Cup, the Cambodian national team will not face the Vietnamese national team. Cambodia is in Group A and only finished 4th with 4 points. Historically, the team from the Land of the Pagodas has never advanced beyond the group stage of the AFF Cup.

The Khmer Times also added about striker Nguyen Xuan Son: "The Vietnamese national team's success at the 2024 AFF Cup is largely thanks to naturalized striker Xuan Son. He scored 7 goals and became the tournament's top scorer."
In the FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese national team is currently ranked 114th. It is expected that in the February rankings, we will move up two places to 112th. Meanwhile, Cambodia is only ranked 180th in the world .
The current Cambodian squad includes a number of naturalized players such as Hikaru Mizuno, Yudai Ogawa (of Japanese origin), Andrés Nieto (Colombian), Nick Taylor (USA), Abdel Kader Coulibaly (Ivory Coast), and Mohammed Khan (South Africa).
