The Hung Vuong Museum boasts a unique architectural style, mimicking the traditional stilt house roofs of Northern Vietnam combined with the patterns of the Dong Son bronze drums. With a floor area of approximately 9,000 square meters, the museum is divided into many diverse exhibition spaces. Permanent exhibitions include 49 art clusters organized into five major themes: Nature and People of Phu Tho ; Prehistory and Early History; the Northern Domination and Feudal Independence Periods; Resistance Wars against Foreign Invasion; and Phu Tho in the Renovation Process. In addition, the museum regularly organizes thematic exhibitions, bringing new life to the museum space. A prime example is the thematic exhibition "Hung Vuong Culture in the Flow of Red River Civilization," featuring over 300 diverse archaeological artifacts, documents on the Hung Vuong worshiping beliefs, and Xoan singing – a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
In addition, the outdoor exhibition area, featuring tanks, cannons, airplanes, etc., recreates a part of the history of the war of national defense. The ethnography space, approximately 60 square meters, offers the public the opportunity to learn about the daily life, customs, and traditions of the ethnic groups in Phu Tho province. Particularly, the ground floor of the museum stands out with a giant bronze drum – a symbol of "round sky, square earth" – reminiscent of the origins of the rice-farming civilization during the Hung King era.
Numerous officials, citizens, and students visited the exhibits at the Hung Vuong Museum.
Most recently, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, the Hung Vuong Museum organized a thematic exhibition titled "The August Revolution of 1945 - A Historical Milestone." With over 310 valuable images, documents, and artifacts, the exhibition recreated the fervent atmosphere of the uprising, affirming the leadership role of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the immense contributions of the people of Phu Tho to this historic victory. At the opening ceremony, Mr. To Anh Tu, Director of the Hung Vuong Museum, emphasized: "Each artifact here tells a story of the courage, sacrifice, and burning desire for independence of the nation. This is not only valuable documentation but also a 'living history class,' inspiring patriotism and responsibility towards the homeland."
Alongside the exhibition, the museum also organizes documentary film screenings, history lessons, and interactive experiences for students. Nguyen Thu Ha, a student from Viet Tri High School, shared: “Seeing firsthand the artifacts our ancestors used in the uprising, I clearly felt the sacrifices and the will to win independence. The lessons in class became much more vivid when learned right at the museum.”
Since the beginning of the year, the Hung Vuong Museum has welcomed over 12,000 visitors and collaborated in organizing many major exhibitions, such as: Exhibitions and propaganda activities to serve the "Welcome to the Year of the Snake 2025" program; the "Traditional Tet Space" exhibition and experiential activities and folk games for the Year of the Snake 2025; collaboration with the Vinh Phuc Museum to organize a thematic exhibition "Hung Vuong Culture in the Flow of Red River Civilization" to serve the Hung Vuong Ancestor Commemoration - Hung Temple Festival and the Culture and Tourism Week in the Year of the Snake 2025; collaboration with the Nghe An Museum to organize an exhibition of documentary photo panels on the heritage "Hung Vuong Worship Beliefs and Phu Tho Xoan Singing" to serve the opening of the thematic exhibition "Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Songs and Phu Tho Xoan Singing"...
In particular, the Museum is actively implementing the scientific project "Applying VR3D technology to build a virtual reality museum," opening up the possibility of accessing historical artifacts on a digital platform. Experiential education activities are emphasized, with 7 "history lessons" sessions for students from several schools in the province. In addition, the Museum also organized a thematic exhibition "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The Strength of National Unity" and thematic talks; and organized history lessons to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025)...
From precious original artifacts and vibrant thematic exhibitions to the application of modern technology, the Hung Vuong Museum is gradually affirming its position as a representative cultural and historical center of the ancestral land. Not only preserving heroic memories, the museum also becomes a special "history classroom," nurturing faith, pride, and a desire to contribute in the younger generation. Amidst modern life, the Hung Vuong Museum is not only a cultural destination but also a place to remember our roots, where the past and present intertwine, thereby spreading the spirit of "drinking water, remembering the source," fostering willpower and aspirations to build a prosperous nation.
