In their opening match of the VTV Cup 2024, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost to Kuanysh (Kazakhstan). Therefore, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team was determined to win against Korea Expressway to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. Things didn't go smoothly for the home team. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen played better when moved back to the opposite hitter position. However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team didn't really "warm up" in the first set.
Mistakes and the strong performances of Yunieska Ribles and Nikolova Merelin from Korea Expressway made things difficult for the home team. The South Korean team won the first set 25-18. In the second set, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet made timely adjustments. One of them was bringing in middle blocker Pham Thi Hien, which helped the Vietnamese women's volleyball team play more evenly. They won this set 25-22, leveling the score at 1-1. In the third set, the advantage once again belonged to Korea Expressway. First-pass errors led to several unfortunate loss of points for the Vietnamese girls. The opponent took the lead again, winning 25-16 in this set. But the home team didn't give up easily. In the fourth set, they created a breathtaking chase.

This nail-biting win revived the Vietnamese women's volleyball team's hopes of reaching the semi-finals. They will have a day off tomorrow, August 26th. Then, at 7 PM on August 27th, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will face Paint Master (Philippines). Another victory would secure their place in the next round.
