Binh Dinh trains 7,500 semiconductor and AI workers, provides students with interest-free loans

Within the next five years, Binh Dinh province will train at least 7,500 human resources in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, with the ambition of becoming a major science and technology center of Vietnam.

On May 25, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province informed that Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, signed a decision approving the project to develop human resources for the semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, and network safety and security for the period 2025 - 2030.

The objective of this project is to train and develop human resources in the fields of semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and safety.

Meet the practical needs of businesses and the labor market in this province.

At the same time, orienting to build Binh Dinh into a leading center for training, research and application of high technology.

Contribute to promoting the sustainable development of the digital economy and high-tech industry in Vietnam.

According to the above project, in the 2025 - 2030 period, Binh Dinh province aims to train at least 7,500 human resources in related industries.

Specifically: training more than 4,000 bachelors and engineers in the fields of microchip design, microchip packaging and testing, AI, network safety and security. In addition, striving to train about 1,000 practical engineers in this field.

The project also aims to provide short-term training to improve knowledge for 2,500 engineers and bachelors in fields such as electronics - telecommunications, electrical engineering, automation, information technology, etc. Improve the qualifications of 95 lecturers and train 5 PhDs in semiconductor industry, AI, network safety and security.

Regarding facilities, Binh Dinh province will build a fully equipped shared semiconductor laboratory system to serve training and research in design, packaging and testing stages. This semiconductor laboratory is expected to be located at Quy Nhon University with an investment cost of 120 billion VND.

To implement the above project, educational institutions and universities in Binh Dinh will open new training majors, update training programs of related majors and strengthen training cooperation with domestic and foreign universities with strengths in the above fields.

According to the project, the formation and development of a high-quality workforce in this field will contribute to attracting investment, especially in the semiconductor industry, AI, and cybersecurity and safety in Binh Dinh.

Strongly promote the development of the high-tech sector, realizing the goal of turning Binh Dinh into a center of science, technology and high-tech industry in Vietnam by 2050.

Students studying semiconductors and artificial intelligence can borrow 40 million VND/year without interest.

To encourage students to study the above majors, Binh Dinh province will provide tuition loans with preferential interest rates for students participating in undergraduate and engineering programs. It is expected to provide loans of 40 million VND/year and support interest-free during the training period. The funding source for this activity is about 118 billion VND.

In addition, to attract high-quality human resources, Binh Dinh province has a policy of exempting personal income tax for leading experts in the field and providing housing support.
