Ignoring Bali and Phuket, this Vietnamese island attracts tourists only after Maldives

The 25 best islands to travel to around the planet have just been voted by Travel + Leisure magazine, in which Maldives ranked number 1 and Vietnam's representative ranked number 2.
Islands in the middle of the ocean always bring visitors an unparalleled experience and are often described as "the path to paradise". The pristine beaches and clear waters create an idyllic setting for visitors to relax and "heal". However, the islands on the list voted by Travel + Leisure readers as the best also organize many interesting activities, from surfing and diving to attending regional festivals and exploring local cuisine . The top 3 winning islands this year include two destinations that need no introduction: Maldives (No. 1) and Bali (No. 3). But in second place is Phu Quoc Island of Vietnam.

With a score of 94.41, Phu Quoc is considered by Travel + Leisure to be "an emerging tourist destination - and that is its greatest strength. While some beaches in Southeast Asia have developed, Phu Quoc still maintains its tranquility". In addition, Phu Quoc has recently organized many diverse art performances, fireworks, a new night market in Sunset Town or newly put into operation projects that have created a buzz, Kiss Bridge is an example. Greece, a country with more than 6,000 large and small islands, has 4 winning islands in the above list: Milos (number 4), Crete (number 6), Corfu and the Ionian Islands (number 20) and Páros (number 24). Three Italian islands - Ischia at No. 11, Sicily at No. 17 and Sardinia at No. 21 - made the list this year, and let's not forget Thailand, represented by Koh Samui at No. 9 and Phuket at No. 16. Southeast Asia also includes the Philippine island of Palawan (No. 13). More than 186,000 readers completed the Travel + Leisure 2024 World's Best Awards survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across more than 8,700 hotels, cities, tour operators and more. For the island selection, the criteria were: natural beaches; activities/attractions; restaurants/food; people/friendliness; destination value. For each characteristic, respondents could choose to rate it as excellent, above average, average, below average or poor. The final score is the average of these answers.
