Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy directed the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Yen Bai city.

Minister Do Duc Duy and his delegation inspected the landslide situation at Km 2, Dien Bien Road, in residential area 2, Yen Ninh ward. This area is currently suffering significant damage due to landslides, with dozens of houses completely collapsed and embankments collapsing. As of the afternoon of September 11th, the area is still at risk of further landslides.

During his inspection, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy requested city leaders to mobilize manpower, machinery, and equipment to relocate households in areas at risk of landslides to safe locations. He also requested that businesses with excavators cooperate with the city government to address landslide-prone areas and ensure the safety of residents.

Minister Do Duc Duy also urged residents in the area to proactively relocate, prioritizing the protection of their lives, supporting families affected by the disaster, those whose houses have collapsed or need to be relocated, and cooperating with the authorities who must focus on providing relief to the most urgent areas first.

Inspecting the landslide and house collapse situation in Group 10 and Kim Dong Street in Minh Tan Ward, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy requested the city to ensure the safety of the people, clean up areas where the water has receded, and increase the capacity of the water treatment plant to provide water for people to clean up their houses.

In Hong Ha ward and Tuy Loc commune, after assessing the situation and seeing that the Red River water had receded, the comrade requested that the police and military forces concentrate their efforts on assisting the people in cleaning up, with the spirit of cleaning up as soon as the water recedes. If necessary, mobilize militia forces from other districts to provide support. In particular, in areas that are isolated, deploy small boats from other locations to provide timely assistance to the people with food, supplies, and drinking water.

Reporting at the meeting with the Minister, the leaders of Yen Bai city stated that they had mobilized approximately 1,000 military and police personnel to assist the people in overcoming the consequences of the disaster. The city also requested the province to provide maximum support in terms of personnel and equipment, and to ensure communication for directing and mitigating the effects of the natural disaster.

Comrade Tran Huy Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated that the risk of landslides remains present, and the city needs to focus on assessing the extent of landslides before safely relocating residents back home. In addition, the city needs to focus on clearing debris as the water recedes; coordinate with the health sector to carry out disinfection and sterilization to ensure environmental hygiene; and focus on guiding people to restore agricultural and livestock production. The city also needs to pay attention to compiling damage statistics and providing timely support to the people.

Concluding the meeting, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee, government, and people of the city in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon No. 3. The Minister noted that the volume of disaster relief efforts in the coming days will be enormous, and the city needs to focus on rescue and relief work, immediately moving people from dangerous areas to safe locations and not allowing those who have been moved from dangerous areas to return until safety is ensured; providing thorough funeral arrangements for those who died, focusing on treating the injured, and providing support to affected families.

Simultaneously, rationally coordinate support and aid resources; restore and ensure essential services including electricity, water, and communication; clear landslides, clean up the environment, and prevent disease outbreaks, especially in public places such as schools and health centers. Take care of people's health; restore infrastructure systems such as drainage systems and government offices; address landslides to ensure safety; assess damage and support the restoration of agricultural production, flexibly changing the crop structure accordingly.

Minister Do Duc Duy requested the city to focus on ensuring security, safety, and social welfare for the people; and to restore normal life as quickly as possible. He also called for plans to support residents, ensuring safe housing, and arranging resettlement for those who are forced to relocate from dangerous areas. He stated that he would direct the province to develop a plan to allocate appropriate forces and resources to the city and other affected localities.
