From September 15th to 18th, the Command of Naval Region 5, in coordination with the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee and FPT University Can Tho, organized a campaign to promote awareness of the sea and islands, attracting human resources to build a modern Navy.

Over 5,000 middle and high school students from five schools in Kien Giang province and students fromFPT University Can Tho received information from speakers of the 5th Naval Region Command on the position, role, and importance of Vietnam's seas and islands in the cause of national construction and defense; the current situation in Vietnam's maritime areas; and the viewpoints, policies, and solutions of the Party and State in the struggle to protect maritime sovereignty.

In addition, students were introduced to and informed by speakers from the Command of Naval Region 5 about historical documents and evidence, and the legal basis affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos; the outstanding achievements and victories of the Vietnam People's Navy in protecting the sovereignty of the country's seas and islands; and the journey of building, fighting, maturing, and developing the Command of Naval Region 5.

In addition, students were also advised and provided with more information about training majors, conditions, procedures, and application processes for admission to the Naval Academy; and policies to attract high-quality human resources to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Navy.

Integrated into the awareness campaigns, the organizers posed numerous knowledge-based questions about the sea and islands, along with rewards for each correct answer, attracting a large number of students to participate. This contributed to fostering love for the sea and islands, and raising awareness and responsibility among the younger generation towards the cause of national construction and defense.

On this occasion, the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, in coordination with the Command of Naval Region 5 and schools in the province, distributed 3,500 leaflets promoting the attraction of human resources; and presented 50 gifts to students with good academic achievements, with a total value of 10 million VND.
