On December 6, Thong Nhat Hospital said that the hospital had just received a case of a child who had an accident while standing on the toilet.
Specifically, patient NNKN (8 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) was hospitalized with a wound about 25 x 18 cm long on his back.

The patient's family said that after using the toilet, the child stood on the toilet to hang things. The toilet suddenly broke, causing sharp pieces of porcelain to cut deep into the child's back, causing severe bleeding. The family immediately took the child to a nearby medical station for initial first aid and then urgently transferred him to Thong Nhat Hospital.
At Thong Nhat Hospital, doctors quickly established an IV line, provided pain relief, bandaged the wound, and coordinated a consultation with the Neurosurgery and Nephrology-Urology departments. After assessing the injury, the patient was transferred for further intensive treatment.
Dr. Nguyen Thuy Trang - Head of the Emergency Department recommends that parents absolutely avoid letting children climb in the bathroom or stand on porcelain, glass, or fragile materials.
In case of an accident that causes heavy bleeding, stay calm, use gauze or a clean towel to apply direct pressure to the wound, then quickly take the child to the nearest medical facility for timely treatment. At the same time, equip children with daily safety skills to help limit the risk of unfortunate accidents.
