" I want to emphasize that up to this point, I have had to spend a very large amount of money to pursue and realize this work and dream. There is absolutely no truth to the rumors circulating on social media that I am 'piggybacking' on this ," singer Jack (real name Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan) shared on his personal page.
The male singer also affirmed that he had received permission from Messi to use the football star's image: "I wouldn't have made this video without his initial permission. During my trip to meet Messi, I discussed and asked for permission to use his image. Messi's side agreed on the condition that his image would not be used for commercial, political , or national purposes."
He added: "The false rumors related to the 60 billion figure have absolutely no connection to any statements or remarks made by Jack."
Jack stated, " I am deeply saddened that my original, noble goals have been so dangerously distorted and misrepresented ."
Jack claims he obtained permission from Messi's team before using the footage.
Singer Jack's music video featuring Lionel Messi was released on the evening of August 31st. The Argentinian football superstar appears in casual clothes, talking to and hugging singer Jack in a scene lasting about 3 seconds. Additionally, Messi's face also appears in a few other shots.
Businessman Pham Ngoc Quoc Cuong - a renowned jersey collector in Vietnam, who is believed to have connected Jack and Messi - revealed details about the meeting and images of the Argentinian superstar appearing in the Vietnamese singer's music video.
This businessman has repeatedly posted on social media to express his dissatisfaction with the information regarding Messi's appearance in Jack's music video. This has affected his reputation.
Businessman Pham Ngoc Quoc Cuong stated that Jack's meeting with Messi was actually a private arrangement between him and the Argentinian superstar, facilitated by a friend. The businessman had connections with Jack, knew the singer was passionate about football, and therefore invited him along.
Another person, also allegedly present at the meeting, claimed to have reminded singer Jack beforehand that the images and videos with Messi were only for keeping as mementos. This person criticized the singer for not asking for permission and arbitrarily creating a music video featuring Messi, stating that the Argentinian star did not agree to participate in the music video. He also requested that Jack and his team remove Messi's image from the music video.
To date, Jack's music video has garnered 5.5 million views after just 5 days of being uploaded to YouTube.
