Hun Manet provided this information during a meeting with more than 12,000 factory workers in Kampong Cham province on October 25.
According to Hun Manet, the United Nations has decided to withdraw tens of thousands of peacekeeping personnel from Mali, including about 100 Cambodian Blue Beret soldiers.
"A few days ago, I agreed to withdraw our blue berets from Mali when the United Nations began evacuating them because in some places the troops were no longer stationed there and even the UN's blue berets were under attack," he said.
Xinhua quoted Hun Manet as saying that Cambodia destroyed equipment in Mali before withdrawing its troops, such as vehicles and equipment.
Following the military coup in Mali, the African nation's transitional government requested that the United Nations withdraw its mission, which had been operating for 10 years.
The United Nations Security Council has complied with the resolution adopted on June 30 to withdraw the peacekeeping mission from Mali before December 31.
