A familiar sight every morning, at midday, and especially during rush hour at the intersection of Le Loi and Ly Thuong Kiet streets in Thanh Vinh ward: traffic moving with difficulty, sometimes completely gridlocked. Photo: Dinh Tuyen According to reporters from Nghe An Newspaper and Television, one of the main reasons for traffic congestion here is the lack of traffic lights, causing vehicles to move haphazardly. Photo: Dinh Tuyen The traffic awareness of some people remains limited, leading to congestion and reckless overtaking, further exacerbating traffic chaos. The image was captured on the afternoon of September 5th. Photo: Dinh Tuyen Due to traffic congestion, many motorcyclists have to choose to travel on the sidewalk. Photo: Dinh Tuyen Mr. Nguyen Tan, a resident of Thanh Vinh ward, shared: "Once, when I went for a check-up at a nearby hospital, it took me 40 minutes to get through this section of road. Because there were no traffic signals, no one yielded to anyone, forcing me to encroach on another lane to get through. I urge the authorities to find a reasonable solution soon to alleviate the hardship for the people." (Photo: Dinh Tuyen) As many residents have reported, traffic congestion only truly clears up when traffic police appear to direct traffic. As soon as the authorities are absent, traffic descends into chaos again. Photo: Dinh Tuyen Ms. Bui Thi Hanh, a frequent commuter on Ly Thuong Kiet road, shared: "My company is located right on this road, so I pass by it every day on my way to work. During rush hour, the heavy traffic makes commuting very difficult. On many days, vehicles jostle for space, everyone is in a hurry, so collisions are common. I've witnessed quite a few accidents, from minor scratches to serious injuries where people fall onto the road. Every day I pass through here, it's stressful." A long line of vehicles stretches along Le Loi Street. Photo: Dinh Tuyen. Authorities said that traffic control personnel are deployed during peak hours in the morning, noon, and evening. In the morning, officers are present from 6:30 AM to direct traffic, while in the afternoon they begin at 4:30 PM. Especially on rainy days, when the volume of vehicles increases dramatically, the officers focus primarily on traffic control to prevent congestion, rather than conducting inspections or issuing administrative penalties. In addition, manhole covers are left haphazardly in the middle of the road, posing a potential danger to road users. (Photo: Dinh Tuyen) To implement a synchronized and efficient traffic signal system, completing the Ly Thuong Kiet road is essential. In particular, the unfinished section (passing through the former Hung Binh ward) needs to be constructed and completed soon to ensure smooth, safe, and civilized traffic infrastructure operation.
