According to observations by reporters from the News and Nation Newspaper in mid-December, at the Tan Van interchange construction site, part of package XL1 of the Ring Road 3 project, hundreds of engineers and workers were working continuously on all three levels of traffic at the interchange.
This is the intersection of six major transportation arteries: Hanoi Highway, Metro Line 1, Ring Road 3, DT743A road, Nguyen Xien road, and Dong Nai Bridge, playing a crucial role in regulating traffic in the Southeast region.

The Tan Van interchange has a scale of 3 traffic levels and 5 overpass branches, requiring complex technical solutions under conditions of limited space and very high existing traffic volume. Currently, contractors are mobilizing maximum manpower and equipment to work around the clock.
Along National Highway 1, many concrete pillars for the overpass branch have been completed; construction teams are urgently working on the remaining pillars. The descending section of the elevated Ring Road 3 has entered the girder installation phase, while the third level, the most complex area of the project, is being constructed at high intensity.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tan, Deputy Director of the XL1 project for the Tan Van interchange construction (formerly the Binh Duong Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Works), said: “The Tan Van interchange is approximately 2.5 km long, and to date, the progress of the XL1 project has reached about 45% of the contract volume. Currently, there are 7 contractors working on the bridge and road sections, and generally, they are all meeting the set schedule.”

According to Mr. Tan, the project is facing several difficulties, especially the scarcity of materials such as soil and stone, and price fluctuations leading to discrepancies compared to the contract price, putting pressure on the contractor to mobilize materials to the construction site. In addition, the prolonged heavy rain has affected the roadbed construction work.

“When the weather is favorable, the Project Management Board will request contractors to increase equipment and personnel and work overtime to accelerate progress according to the plan. It is expected that the main elevated bridge will be completed for technical traffic by April 30, 2026; the parallel roads will be fully completed by June 30, 2026,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tan added.

“Currently, there are more than 200 workers and engineers on the construction site, along with about 140 pieces of machinery and equipment. Bridge construction is progressing continuously, while road construction is working overtime to compensate for the rainy days. The Board will require the seven contractors to focus even more on machinery, manpower, and materials to ensure the overall progress of the project,” Mr. Tan emphasized.
