Sharing his thoughts on the support, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Shawn Steil emphasized: "This support includes assistance to domestic and international NGOs , as well as the Red Cross, to meet the most pressing needs. Canada continues to closely monitor the situation and stands ready to act to support and stand in solidarity with the people of Vietnam, who continue to inspire resilience and fortitude."
Earlier on September 19th, Oxfam Vietnam announced a 5 billion VND donation for relief and recovery after Typhoon Yagi. The aid will be allocated to Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces – the two areas most severely affected by the flooding following Typhoon Yagi.
On September 18, the European Union (EU) also announced it would provide 650,000 Euros (18 billion VND) in humanitarian aid to victims of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.
"This aid will help address the most pressing needs such as food, water and sanitation, as well as healthcare," according to an announcement on the website of the EU Delegation to Vietnam.
On the same day, according to information from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in response to the severe impact of Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3) in northern Vietnam, the Irish Embassy announced a grant of 250,000 Euros (over 6.8 billion VND) through UNICEF to provide clean water and sanitation supplies, aiming to ensure the health of children and vulnerable households after the natural disaster.
