(Baothanhhoa.vn) - The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning of the risk of flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence on steep slopes and small streams in the provinces of Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.

From 7:00 a.m. on August 30 to 7:00 a.m. this morning, August 31, the areas of Lao Cai, Phu Tho provinces and from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh had moderate to heavy rain, of which the rainfall temporarily measured at Xuan Khanh station (Thanh Hoa) was 211.2 mm.

Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are close to saturation (over 85%) or have reached saturation.

It is forecasted that in the next 3-6 hours, the above provinces will continue to have rain with common accumulated rainfall as follows: Lao Cai from 5-15mm, some places over 30mm; Thanh Hoa from 20-60mm, some places over 100mm; Phu Tho, Nghe An and Ha Tinh from 20-40mm, some places over 80mm.

Warning in the next 6 hours, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in many communes and wards.
