Flood warning on Krong Ana and Cam Ly rivers

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the flood on the Krong Ana River (Dak Lak) is rising; the flood on the Cam Ly River (Lam Dong) is receding.

Water level at 7:00 a.m. on December 5, on Krong Ana River was 420.56m, 0.56m above alarm level 1; on Cam Ly River at Thanh Binh station was 832.52m, 0.52m above alarm level 2.

Warning, in the next 24 hours, flood on Krong Ana river will continue to rise and be above alert level 1; flood on Cam Ly river will continue to fall and be below alert level 1.

Flood disaster risk warning level 1.

"Warning information is calculated based on the expected operating level of upstream reservoirs. The hydrometeorological agency will update the bulletins when there are changes in the discharge flow of the reservoirs," noted Head of Hydrological Forecasting Department Phung Tien Dung.

Floods on rivers and inundation in low-lying areas affect activities such as water transport, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio- economic activities.

To proactively respond to floods, landslides, and flash floods, according to the guidance of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, affected areas closely monitor flood, flash flood, and landslide forecast and warning bulletins and provide timely and complete information to local authorities and people for proactive prevention.

Provinces and cities deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas at risk of floods, flash floods, and landslides to proactively clear the flow of blocked and obstructed areas; proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people to safe places and have plans to support food and necessities for people at evacuation sites; arrange forces to guard and control people and vehicles in areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides; arrange forces, materials, and vehicles to overcome incidents and ensure smooth traffic on main traffic routes when floods occur.

Localities inspect, review, and deploy measures to ensure the safety of key works, works under construction, small reservoirs that are full of water, mines, and mineral exploitation areas; proactively operate reservoir discharge to prioritize flood reduction capacity for downstream areas; arrange standing forces ready to handle possible situations; proactively take measures to drain water to prevent flooding and protect production, industrial parks, urban areas, and residential areas; prepare forces, means, equipment, and necessities according to the "four on-the-spot" motto to be ready to respond to all situations, especially for areas at risk of being isolated.

At the same time, direct radio, television and local media agencies to increase information on developments of rain and floods to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent and control; prepare forces and means for rescue when required.
