
Hundreds of meals, drinks, and food delivered to people
In Ham Thang ward, some places are still deeply flooded. Residential areas along both sides of National Highway 1A, Thang Thuan quarter are heavily flooded. Roads leading to residential areas are mostly flooded, water is still flowing rapidly, many places are flooded more than 1.5m. Since December 4, floodwaters have flooded, causing deep flooding in low-lying areas. Many houses in Groups 8, 9, 10 of Thang Thuan quarter are cut off. Amidst floodwaters, kitchens are deeply flooded, making cooking almost impossible. Many families are in poverty.
On the afternoon of December 5, the volunteer group “Giving is Forever” coordinated with local authorities to continuously take turns receiving, unloading and using trucks and dump trucks to deliver hundreds of meals, drinking water and food to people in areas that were severely flooded. The hot meals and porridge were delivered to the people. More than 10 young people in the area volunteered to use their vehicles and participate in distributing meals and supplies. Among them, many people had houses that were still deeply flooded.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Hai (Ham Thang ward) used his family's dump truck as an emergency relief vehicle for people in flooded areas. He distributed rice to people 3 times a day. Not only during this flood but also during the flood in October 2025, he was there to support everyone. Mr. Hai shared: "The house is still flooded but compared to many people, I am still safe. My wife and children stay home to clean up while I go to help people."
According to Ms. Ha Thi Thu Thuy, a member of the volunteer group “Giving is Forever”, the group has called on benefactors to join together in supporting food to help people in flooded areas. The food rations are diverse with sticky rice, bread, rice, fried noodles with the desire to ensure nutrition and health for people to help them overcome difficulties.

In Ham Thuan Bac commune, at noon on December 5, the floodwaters gradually receded but everything was still in disarray, mud covered the yard, furniture was damaged, people were busy cleaning their houses. To support the people, a volunteer group led by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nghi (Ham Thuan commune) mobilized benefactors to organize a kitchen, cook rice and give it to the people for free.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nghi said: “From 3am, everyone was busy preparing. Some washed vegetables, some cooked, and children also helped to pack the boxes. The meals were carefully packaged and delivered to each area, bringing with them the warmth of sharing. In the past 2 days, more than 3,200 meals were delivered to people in Ham Thuan, Ham Thuan Bac, and Hong Son communes…”.
Evacuate people to safety

On the morning of December 5, at the gathering point for necessities at the Ham Thang Ward Party Committee Headquarters, there were many vehicles coming and going. Each convoy of vehicles brought goods to and transported them to the affected areas. The leader of Ham Thang Ward People's Committee said that to support the people, the locality has mobilized many political -social organizations, unions and volunteer groups to organize activities towards the flood areas, especially providing food, drinking water and thousands of meals every day for the people.
Specifically, on the afternoon of December 4, the ward mobilized organizations and philanthropists to support more than 4,000 meals and drinks for people who had to relocate. On December 5, organizations and philanthropists continued to support and ensure the provision of food and drinks 3 times a day with a quantity of over 7,500 meals/time.

According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Ham Thang Ward, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain in the upstream communes, combined with the flood discharge of Song Quao Lake, on December 2, the water level on Cai River through Ham Thang Ward rose, causing flooding in the Lap River area, Group 1, Kim Binh Quarter. By the evening of December 3 and the early morning of December 4, the flooded area was expanding. Up to now, 18 neighborhoods in the ward have been affected; nearly 7,000 houses have been flooded (under 0.5m)... The flood also caused flooding of about 520 hectares including fruit trees, perennial trees, rice, crops, dragon fruit... The initial estimated damage is about 100 billion VND.

Ham Thang Ward People's Committee has organized the evacuation of more than 1,550 households with 2,500 people in Kim Binh, Kim Ngoc, Phu Thanh, Phu Thinh, Thang Hiep, Phu Hoa neighborhoods out of areas at risk of deep flooding and fast-flowing water. Authorities are continuing to support people to safe places. Here, the authorities have fully arranged necessities for people to temporarily stabilize while waiting for the water to recede.
