On February 28, fisherman Nguyen Thanh (Ly Son island district, Quang Ngai) caught a shark weighing more than 200kg. When docking at the port, a crane had to be used to bring the struggling big fish from the ship to shore.

Mr. Thanh caught this shark in the sea area about 2 nautical miles from Ly Son Island. When the fish bit the hook, Mr. Thanh did not expect it to be so big and had to work very hard to subdue the fish weighing more than 200kg.

After bringing the fish to the wharf on Ly Son Island, Mr. Thanh had to use a crane to lift the fish from the boat to shore. In all his fishing career, Mr. Thanh had never caught such a big shark.

Ly Son sea area often has sharks 1 to 2 nautical miles from shore. However, most of the sharks that fishermen catch weigh a few dozen kilos. Catching a shark weighing more than 200kg is very rare.

Very quickly after that, the trader came to ask and buy the fish for 70,000 VND/kg. Thus, after just one fishing session, the shark helped Mr. Thanh earn 15 million VND.

Marine sharks are a group of fish in the order Carcharhiniformes , with elongated bodies and characteristic rough skin. They come in many different species, with varying sizes and weights.

Some common species such as grey sharks usually weigh 70-110kg, hammerhead sharks can reach 150-400kg.

The largest is the whale shark, an adult can weigh up to 15-20 tons.

Many species of sharks are subject to conservation such as: Brown shark, gentle shark, tooth shark, tuna shark...

The shark that Mr. Thanh caught was a milk shark, not on the list of prohibited fishing species.
