Many economic , service and foreign language sectors still have quotas.
Master Dang Cong Quoc, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade, said that the school has almost reached its enrollment target. However, some economic majors are still recruiting, such as business administration, finance and banking, accounting, and import-export business. In addition, majors in garment technology, footwear technology, fashion design, and language majors such as English, Korean, etc. are also continuing to enroll.
"In fact, businesses are currently in great need of human resources in the garment and footwear industries. Although businesses do not place direct orders, there is market demand, and students can find jobs right after graduation. Unfortunately, there are industries that have not met their quotas for many years, such as the textile industry. Even though society needs them, schools are forced to stop recruiting because there is no source," said Master Quoc.
According to Master Nguyen Van Thai, Vice Principal of Hoa Sen Vocational College, there are still many vacancies in some majors and majors at the school, such as: Medical secretary, small and medium enterprise management, computer network management, information technology, graphic design.
At Van Lang Saigon College, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Chieu Anh, Head of Communications and Admissions Department, said that the school has reached more than 80% of its target and will continue to accept applications in September. “Most majors still have some targets, especially the foreign language group (English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese) and the tourism - restaurant - hotel, beverage mixing techniques... training according to business orders, so the demand is very open,” Ms. Chieu Anh shared.
Currently, many colleges are still enrolling students.

According to Ms. Chieu Anh, the tourism - restaurant - hotel industry has been recovering strongly after the epidemic, the demand for human resources has increased again, but many people are hesitant, so they should still be cautious.
Paradox of "industry needs - people don't study"
According to Master Thai, some industries are always in a state of shortage of human resources such as: graphic design, restaurant management, business accounting, computer network management and medical secretarial (office management).
“These are all industries that businesses need human resources for, and even have recruitment orders for, but few people apply. The reason comes from the mentality that the industry is difficult to study, stressful, requires high skills, or due to the lack of career orientation information to convince candidates to choose,” Master Thai analyzed.
According to Master Lam Van Quan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, in reality, many businesses, especially in the manufacturing, technical industry, and service sectors, are "thirsty" for skilled, ready-to-work human resources with college and university degrees. Many sectors are also "ordered" to train with a commitment to accept students after graduation. However, colleges and vocational schools are having difficulty recruiting students, and some sectors even have "no candidates".
Master Quan calls this the paradox of "industry needs - people don't study", a persistent and alarming paradox.
According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, to overcome this situation, schools need to be more proactive instead of just waiting for students. First of all, it is necessary to restructure the admissions approach: shifting from "admissions" to "career orientation". It is necessary to go to high schools, organize practical experiences, connect with parents, and invite successful alumni to share.
Training linked to businesses: strengthening the dual training model, committing 100% of students to have an internship - job after graduation, even signing a three-party contract between school - business - learner.
Invest in digital media: create short videos, career podcasts, interview successful examples from vocational training; cooperate with TikTokers, YouTubers to spread the word; create the image of a modern, dynamic vocational school with many opportunities.
