In the letter, Madam Pang wrote: “On behalf of the Football Association of Thailand, I would like to express my deepest regret and sincere apologies for the unfortunate incident involving the misplacement of the Vietnamese flag during the draw for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Men's Futsal Championship, to be held in Thailand on October 28, 2025.”
The President of the Football Association of Thailand stated that she was deeply saddened by the incident, saying, “This completely fails to reflect the respect and appreciation that the Thai Football Association has for all its member associations and their national symbols. We are fully aware of the seriousness of this mistake and take full responsibility for the oversight that occurred.”
Madam Pang affirmed that the Football Association of Thailand immediately took corrective measures, reviewed and strengthened event organization procedures to ensure that such mistakes would never happen again.
"The Football Association of Thailand sincerely apologizes to the Vietnam Football Federation, the Southeast Asian Football Federation, and all parties involved for this incident." She also expressed hope for the opportunity to personally apologize to the President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Tran Quoc Tuan, in the near future.
“The Football Association of Thailand and I personally deeply appreciate your continued understanding and support, and we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and respect in all AFF events hosted by the Football Association of Thailand,” Madam Pang wrote in the letter.
Previously, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) sent official letters to the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) and the Football Association of Thailand protesting and demanding clarification regarding the incorrect display of the Vietnamese flag at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 and U16 Futsal Championships.
Accordingly, during the draw ceremony, the Chinese flag was displayed instead of the Vietnamese flag on the Vietnamese team's draw ticket. In a document sent to the AFF, the Vietnam Football Federation clearly stated that this serious incident could have consequences affecting Vietnam's image and negatively impacting the spirit of solidarity within the ASEAN community.
The Vietnam Football Federation has requested the Southeast Asian Football Federation to clarify the cause of the incident and ensure strict measures are in place to prevent similar mistakes from recurring in future events.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) believes that the AFF is also well aware of the seriousness of this matter and will handle it with the utmost responsibility, caution, and professionalism.
