( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of October 21, at Dien Hong Hall, National Assembly House, Hanoi Capital, with 440/440 delegates participating in the vote in favor, accounting for 91.67% of the total number of National Assembly delegates, the National Assembly passed the Resolution to elect the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, delegate of the 15th National Assembly.
The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam delivered his inaugural speech.
“Under the sacred red flag with yellow star of the Fatherland, before the National Assembly and the people and voters nationwide, I, Luong Cuong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, swear: to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the people, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, to strive to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the Party, State and people,” President Luong Cuong took the oath.
In his inaugural speech, President Luong Cuong expressed his emotion, honor and great sense of responsibility before the Party, State and people when being trusted and elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
President Luong Cuong respectfully thanks the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders for their trust and recommendation to take on this noble responsibility; expresses his respect and infinite gratitude to beloved Uncle Ho; deeply appreciates the great contributions of predecessors, veteran revolutionaries, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, compatriots, comrades and people across the country who have strived, are ready to sacrifice and make sacrifices so that our country can have the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.
The President said that in February 1975, in the heroic atmosphere of the whole country turning towards the beloved South, he volunteered to join the army, with the consciousness and thought: Go fight to liberate the South, unify the country and only hope that on the day of victory, if he returns alive, he will be happy and joyful; absolutely not thinking, not dreaming of reaching this level or that position.
“Up to now, nearly 50 years have passed in the blink of an eye, I have held many positions, been trained and tested in fighting to protect the Fatherland; matured from a soldier to a high-ranking leader of the Party. No matter what position I hold or what task I am assigned, I am always steadfast and politically steadfast, absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, actively studying, cultivating, training, preserving moral qualities, lifestyle and improving working capacity; wholeheartedly striving to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party, State, Army and people,” the President emphasized.
On this occasion, the President expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State, Army, Party committees and authorities at all levels; and thanked the leaders, former leaders, comrades, comrades and people for educating, training, loving, protecting, guiding and creating conditions for him to fulfill his duties and grow up as he is today.
Faced with the increasingly high demands of the cause of national construction and defense, in his new position, as he swore before the National Assembly, compatriots, comrades and voters nationwide, the President affirmed that he will make every effort to strive to fulfill his duties as President according to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the tasks entrusted to him by the Party, State and people; continue to preserve and strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party; together with the entire Party, people and army, continue to take care of building and promoting the strength of great national unity; build a clean and strong socialist rule-of-law State that is truly of the people, by the people and for the people; strengthen national defense and security, build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern people's armed forces that are always the absolutely loyal and trustworthy political and fighting force of the Party, State and people; build and consolidate the "people's heart position", the all-people national defense position and the solid people's security position; consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration, ensure the highest national interests, Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community; resolutely and persistently defend the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country, maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national construction and development. Resolutely uphold the goal of national independence and socialism, strive to build a Vietnam with rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, prosperity and happiness.
To fulfill this noble responsibility, along with his own efforts and determination, President Luong Cuong respectfully hopes that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, leaders and former leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front; all levels, sectors, localities, agencies, organizations, compatriots, comrades, voters nationwide and our compatriots abroad will support, help and create conditions for him to successfully complete the assigned tasks.
