On the evening of February 2, the art exchange program "Homeland Spring" 2024 with the theme "Ho Chi Minh City - Continuing the shining heroic epic" organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City at Thong Nhat Hall, Independence Palace took place in a vibrant atmosphere and was magnificently staged.
In her opening speech, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese affirmed: In 2024, facing many opportunities but also many challenges, above all is still the aspiration for peace and development of people around the world, including the Vietnamese people.
Continuing the program, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his emotion and joy at meeting our compatriots from all over the world returning to their homeland Vietnam, together welcoming the new spring of Giap Thin 2024.

During the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong shared about a difficult year with many major, complex, unpredictable changes, increasing uncertainties, prolonged conflicts, local wars in many areas, increasingly extreme weather and severe natural disasters, slow recovery of the world economy, negative impacts on all countries. In that context, Vietnam has made efforts to overcome difficulties, achieving important and comprehensive results in all fields with outstanding marks.
He emphasized that Vietnam has risen to become a leading dynamic economy in Asia - Pacific, an important link in many economic links, free trade agreements, regional and global production chains. Vietnam has affirmed its image and position as an independent, autonomous, dynamically developing country, a loyal and sincere friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community, a beautiful, safe, friendly and hospitable destination.
President Vo Van Thuong shared about his visits to some countries and meetings with overseas Vietnamese. On the occasion of the traditional New Year of the nation, the President was moved when listening to the people's sharing and felt their aspirations and will to rise up, their desire to join hands to contribute to the development of the country.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President expressed his joy at the achievements that overseas Vietnamese have made, and acknowledged, respected and appreciated the great contributions and quiet, persistent efforts of each Vietnamese person for the Fatherland.

This is the occasion for those who live far away to return home, to live in the love of family, homeland, and country together to welcome the new year. Those who have not yet returned will also turn their hearts to their homeland with deep and sacred emotions.
According to our ancestors' tradition, December 23 is the day to hold a ceremony to worship the Kitchen Gods, release carp to inform heaven and earth and ancestors about the past year, clean and renovate the house, get rid of old things, open our hearts to prepare to welcome a new year with new energy, new hope for a good future, and all the best.
In that spirit, I once again wish our compatriots abroad and delegates a new year of abundance, health, happiness and success. Following the program were special musical performances praising the love of the homeland, country and people of Vietnam.
The song Hue-Sai Gon-Ha Noi was performed by Meritorious Artist Thanh Thanh Hien and Le Thien. The scene was magnificently staged with a “river” on stage, boats and canoes moving back and forth, and bustling trading scenes of people on the gentle river.
Singer My Linh appeared in a gentle white ao dai to perform the song Tu Van in a sparkling and magnificent arrangement.
More than 1,500 overseas Vietnamese enjoyed unique and spectacular performances imbued with the images and sounds of their homeland, Vietnam.
