National Assembly Chairman successfully concludes official visit to Cambodia

With nearly 30 activities, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man 's working visit to Cambodia was a great success, fulfilling all the objectives and requirements set forth.

According to the VNA special correspondent, on the afternoon of November 24, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State arrived back in Hanoi, successfully concluding their official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, where they attended the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliamentary Assembly for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11).

During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with National Assembly Chairman Samdech Khuon Sudary; met with the Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet; and attended the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodian National Assembly administrative building – a symbolic project of the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries. National Assembly Chairman Samdech Khuon Sudary presented the Grand Cross Order of Merit of the State of Cambodia to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

In Phnom Penh, the Speaker of the National Assembly paid an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni; received the Chairman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, Samdech Men Sam An; and met with former Speaker of the Cambodian National Assembly, Samdech Heng Samrin.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State visited the staff of the Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.

As a special guest attending the 12th Plenary Session of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), speaking at the opening session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam advocates a consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, is ready to be a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community; and supports the efforts of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties in creating an environment of peace, security and stability in the region.

Sharing his views with parliamentary leaders and parliamentarians from countries attending IPTP 11, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that Vietnam is a peace-loving nation with a tradition of tolerance, humanity, and harmony. Having gone through many wars for national independence and reunification, Vietnam especially cherishes the values ​​of peace, stability, and friendship so that every citizen can enjoy independence, freedom, prosperity, and happiness.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates and fully supports Cambodia’s efforts to promote dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation. As a neighbor of Cambodia, Vietnam believes that Cambodia’s successful experiences in national development and building friendly and cooperative relations with neighboring and regional countries will contribute to promoting peace and cooperation in the region as well as in the world.

With nearly 30 activities, the working trip of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was a great success, fulfilling all the objectives and requirements set forth.

The visit further propels Vietnam-Cambodia relations into a new phase of development based on equality, mutual benefit, effective cooperation, and respect for each other's interests; contributing to strengthening strategic trust and deepening relations between the two countries, and promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Cambodian National Assembly and Senate.
