National Assembly Chairman: Further promoting traditional friendship with Uzbekistan

According to VNA Special Envoy, within the framework of his official visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the 150th Inter -Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-150), on the afternoon of April 7 local time, in the capital Tashkent, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

President Mirziyoyev warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on his official visit to Uzbekistan on behalf of the Vietnamese Party and State leaders and thanked him for attending the IPU-150 General Assembly; he highly appreciated the historical significance of the Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman's visit to Uzbekistan in promoting bilateral relations; and affirmed that Vietnam is a traditional friend and an important partner of Uzbekistan in Southeast Asia.

The President of Uzbekistan respectfully conveyed his greetings to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; recalling his meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Kazan in October 2024.

At the same time, President Mirziyoyev expressed his admiration for the tremendous achievements in economic development, social welfare, and international integration that Vietnam has achieved over the past nearly four decades; considering it a prime example of a middle-income country that Uzbekistan wishes to learn from.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked the State and people of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome extended to the Chairman of the National Assembly and the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly; and conveyed greetings and best wishes from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to President Mirziyoyev.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Uzbekistan on successfully hosting the 150th IPU General Assembly and highly appreciated President Mirziyoyev's impressive speech at this session; affirming that Vietnam's participation in the IPU-150 demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and friendship and the desire to further promote traditional friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation for the development and prosperity of both countries.

Sharing the outstanding achievements in economic and social development and political stability, as well as major orientations towards a new era, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that Vietnam always values ​​the traditional friendship with Uzbekistan and wishes to further promote it to match the potential of the two countries.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the two leaders exchanged views on many issues and shared their vision for bilateral cooperation; they highly appreciated the positive developments in relations between the two countries in recent times, affirming that the parliaments of both countries have made a very important contribution to this.

In that spirit, both sides agreed that in the coming period, it is necessary to strengthen exchanges and extensive political dialogue at all levels, especially at the high level, through Party, State, Government and Parliament channels; continue to coordinate closely and support each other in multilateral forums; continue to strengthen cooperation between legislative bodies, sharing experiences on monitoring the implementation of laws and making decisions on important national issues; and continue to review and sign cooperation documents, creating a solid legal framework for the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

Besides signing the agreement, the two leaders agreed on the need to strengthen supervision and monitoring to ensure that the agreements and documents are implemented effectively and fully.

To further promote bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation to a new level, the two leaders agreed that both sides should encourage businesses from both countries to connect and explore cooperation opportunities in fields such as healthcare, energy, oil and gas, textiles, and agriculture.

Accordingly, the relevant ministries and agencies of both countries are tasked with coordinating the review and development of a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation in all areas, to be submitted to the high-level leaders of both sides for their input.

President Mirziyoyev and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man agreed that both sides have much potential for cooperation in areas such as transportation connectivity, tourism, culture, education and training, and local cooperation; creating favorable conditions to strengthen tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges; considering the possibility of opening more flight routes, increasing the frequency of direct flights, and implementing favorable visa policies for citizens of both countries.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man conveyed to President Mirziyoyev an invitation to visit Vietnam from General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong.

President Mirziyoyev expressed his readiness to visit Vietnam as soon as possible, and also hoped to welcome General Secretary To Lam and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to Uzbekistan at a suitable time.
