On September 4, during a reception for Mr. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, who visited Ho Chi Minh City and attended events within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair 2025 (ITE HCMC 2025), Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc assessed that the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia are increasingly developing.
Regarding the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia, Mr. Duoc said Ho Chi Minh City is one of the leading localities in the country in implementing vibrant cooperation activities with Cambodia, especially with the capital Phnom Penh.
Introducing to the Cambodian delegation, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee set the goal of becoming a megacity, an economic - industrial - logistics center of the Southeast Asian region, with a new vision of an international megacity; a city of finance and high technology; a maritime economic capital; a spiritual and ecological resort paradise.
Mr. Duoc proposed cooperation with the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, which is to continue participating and maintaining a promotional booth at ITE HCMC in the coming years.
"The two sides will strengthen cooperation in communication and tourism promotion on each other's channels. Every year, the ITE HCMC organizing committee will support a 15% reduction in participation fees for the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism with a booth size of 36 square meters," Mr. Duoc informed.
According to the assessment of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the number of Cambodian visitors to Ho Chi Minh City is still modest, not in the top 20 leading markets of the city. Therefore, ITE HCMC supports a 15% reduction in participation fees for the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism with the hope of stimulating tourism between the two markets.
More than 400,000 Cambodian tourists came to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 7 months of 2025
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of Cambodian tourists to Vietnam in 2024 will reach about 475,000 and more than 400,000 in the first 7 months of 2025.
There are Vietnamese and Cambodian airlines operating flights from Ho Chi Minh City - Cambodia, such as Ho Chi Minh City - Phnom Penh (about 5 flights/day); Ho Chi Minh City - Siem Reap (3 flights/day).
