On the morning of August 22nd, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team traveled to Hai Phong to begin a crucial training phase in preparation for the 19th Asian Games. The Vietnamese women's national team is expected to train for three weeks in Hai Phong, interspersed with practice matches. It is highly likely that the Vietnamese girls will have a friendly match against the Hai Phong veteran team.
The Vietnamese women's national team arrived in Hai Phong for training in preparation for the 19th Asian Games.
"This is also an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the Hai Phong football fans who have always supported us throughout the years. Especially after more than 20 years since the 2003 SEA Games, where the Vietnamese women's team won the championship in Hai Phong," said coach Mai Duc Chung.
At this stage, coach Mai Duc Chung and his colleagues will assess and select suitable players for the upcoming tournament. After the training camp concludes, the Vietnamese women's national team will return to Hanoi to finalize preparations before departing for the 19th Asian Games, which will take place from September 22nd in China.
Defender Chương Thị Kiều will be absent in the second phase.
During this training camp in Hai Phong, the Vietnamese women's national team will be without center-back Chuong Thi Kieu and defender My Anh. These two players will continue to receive intensive treatment for their old injuries and combine this with rehabilitation training under the guidance of specialist doctors at Vinmec Hospital.
Chương Thị Kiều and Mỹ Anh are two players often trusted by the coaching staff to take on important roles in matches, so focusing on their injury recovery is a priority for the VFF and doctors to ensure they are in top form for the future.
Reportedly, after intensive treatment, coach Mai Duc Chung will consult with doctors to make a specific assessment and decision regarding the ability of Chuong Thi Kieu and My Anh to compete at ASIAD 19. Coach Mai Duc Chung has also prepared contingency plans to proactively make changes and additions if necessary.
Coach Mai Duc Chung is satisfied with the young players in the first phase.
According to the coaching staff's assessment, during their training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from August 10th to 19th, the young players made significant progress and strived to integrate, complete the training programs, and meet professional requirements.
"During the first phase of training, the young players made significant progress and always looked up to the older players after the World Cup. This is very good, and the coaching staff always encourages the young players to strive even harder in training," Coach Mai Duc Chung shared.
