On May 24, according to TASS news agency, Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), stated that Ukrainian military intelligence was directly involved in the terrorist attack on the Crocus theater in March of this year, which killed 144 people.
Bortnikov also accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of involvement in the attack. The FSB director asserted that NATO facilitated the transport of international mercenary groups and terrorists from the Middle East, North Africa, and Afghanistan to Ukraine, where they would fight against Russian forces. According to the FSB head, the details of the crime will be clarified, and all those involved in the terrorist attack will be punished.
Previously, the Islamic State of Khorasan (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the FSB suggested that the US, UK, and Ukraine may also have been involved. Ukraine and Western countries denied all accusations.
The FSB has arrested dozens of suspects, including four Tajik nationals who directly attacked the Crocus Theatre.
