Billiards player Yen Nhi suddenly leaves Vietnam Billiards Federation, joins PBA

On her personal page, Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi announced that she will join the Korean PBA tournament. "Actually, I have never been sure whether I am on the right track or not. But I believe that every choice, every path will bring me valuable lessons and experiences. A new arena is much more difficult, I hope everyone will always be by my side and support me," the female billiards player born in 1999 wrote on Facebook.

Yen Nhi's confirmation to compete for PBA also means that the 25-year-old female player has agreed to leave the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation (VBSF). Because VBSF is a member of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB), while PBA is an organization that was established later and is in opposition to UMB.

Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi is the number 1 female player of 3-cushion billiards in Vietnam.

In the land of kimchi, Yen Nhi will compete in the LPBA women's tournaments. LPBA is home to many strong female players, especially those from the host country, Korea. In addition, Yen Nhi will also have the opportunity to join a team (with both men and women) to compete in the PBA Team League.

Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi is the number 1 female player in Vietnam. In 2024, she made a strong impression when she won 3rd place at the 3-cushion carom women's world championship in France. Yen Nhi made history when she became the first female player in Vietnam to win a medal at the world championship, belonging to the UMB system.

Previously, the player from Da Nang also won a silver medal in billiards in 3-cushion carom at the 32nd SEA Games, a national gold medal in women's 3-cushion carom in 2023 and 2024, and a gold medal at the 2024 VBSF Cup.

After winning the 2024 Carom 3-Cushion World Women's Championship in France in September, Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi became the center of public opinion. Accordingly, the 1999-born player expressed her frustration at not receiving any attention, both materially and spiritually, from VBSF.
