According to observations, on the afternoon of May 1st, the volume of vehicles on National Highway 1, specifically the section passing through Binh Chanh District (Ho Chi Minh City), was significantly higher at the western gateway.
At some points, the traffic was so crowded that cars lined up one after another.

Traffic police and youth volunteers struggled to regulate and direct traffic in the hot weather.
Mr. Vuong (who drives his motorbike carrying his wife from their hometown in Ben Tre back to Binh Duong for work) said that the journey from Rach Mieu Bridge to Ho Chi Minh City takes him nearly 3 hours due to the heavy traffic, making it impossible to move quickly.
"The bus was crowded and it was incredibly hot. My wife covered her face with a scarf, but the sun was still burning her skin. It's really hot this year," said Mr. Vuong.
In the hot weather, people riding motorbikes bring water to drink.
Motorcyclists take a quick drink of water while waiting at the traffic light.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mai Thi Nhanh and her relatives (riding a motorbike from Tien Giang to Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City to go to work) were forced to stop to rest on the side of the road on National Highway 1, passing through Binh Chanh District. Pointing to the water bag hanging on the motorbike, Ms. Nhanh said, “If I hadn’t stopped to rest and drink some water, I would have fainted.” Traveling in such hot weather made Ms. Nhanh dizzy.
However, according to Ms. Nhanh, although the section of National Highway 1 she traveled on was crowded, each intersection had traffic police regulating and directing traffic, which somewhat helped people travel more smoothly.
The car collision on the road led to a fight.
Later that afternoon, reporters observed a collision between two motorbikes that led to a fight on National Highway 1, near Tan Tuc town, Binh Chanh district, causing traffic congestion. Upon seeing the traffic police, the people involved in the fight dispersed and left on their motorbikes.
A traffic police officer on duty at the Bui Thanh Khiet checkpoint on National Highway 1 (Binh Chanh District) said that due to it being the last day of the holiday, a large number of people were returning to Ho Chi Minh City for study and work. However, traffic at the western gateway to and from Ho Chi Minh City remains smooth.
For over 18 hours, thousands of motorbikes loaded with goods and various types of cars continued to move in a long line from the Mekong Delta provinces to Ho Chi Minh City.
Traffic police officers work hard to regulate traffic.
At the Western Bus Station (Binh Tan District), the volume of vehicles has also increased significantly. Cars are constantly entering and leaving the station.
According to representatives of the Western Bus Station, the number of passengers arriving at the station from morning to evening continued to increase, with an estimated 48,000 passengers. In addition, security and order at the station were strengthened, ensuring smooth traffic flow in and around the station.
