Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, stated: This year, Nghe An is honored to cooperate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Day of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures (April 19) in Tan Ky district with many attractive cultural and sports activities that have profound political and social significance, aiming to concretize the Party and State's guidelines and policies on the preservation and promotion of the culture of ethnic minorities.
Nghe An province is honored and responsible to inherit a vibrant culture with invaluable heritage from six ethnic groups: Kinh, Thai, Tho, Mong, Kho Mu, and O Du. The values of these ethnic cultures are embodied and crystallized in their languages, writing systems, costumes, architecture, folk songs, folk music, folk dances, customs, beliefs, festivals, sports, and folk games.
Organizing the Day of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures is an opportunity for all segments of the population to reflect on and become more deeply aware of the importance of preserving and promoting national cultural values, contributing to a healthier cultural environment, improving cultural and spiritual life; and becoming a bridge of unity, building prosperous, beautiful, civilized, and progressive villages and homelands.
The 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Day took place vibrantly with many meaningful activities in Tan Ky, home to the Special National Monument Kilometer Zero – the starting point of the legendary Truong Son Road – Ho Chi Minh Trail.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with Nghe An province, organized the opening ceremony of the Mobile Propaganda Contest and Exhibition of Large-Panel Propaganda Posters commemorating the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
In addition, the Department of Culture and Sports successfully organized the Ethnic Sports Festival, comprising 6 disciplines: stick pushing, tug-of-war, stilt walking, throwing the ball, crossbow shooting, and volleyball, attracting nearly 300 athletes from 11 mountainous districts and towns.
The closing art program of the Ethnic Culture Day included many unique and vibrant singing, dancing, and musical performances showcasing the cultural colors of the ethnic groups in western Nghe An province, performed by artists, actors, and artisans from the Provincial Traditional Arts Center and Tan Ky district.
The art program is an opportunity to introduce and honor cultural identity and national pride; to educate about the tradition of loving one's homeland; to enhance responsibility and create more resources to further promote the cultural beauty of the ethnic groups in Nghe An province, contributing to making culture truly "guide the nation's path".
