Specifically, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) has agreed on a policy to innovate the 2025 regular university admissions process by integrating various admission and selection methods and combining multiple criteria, implementing three methods: direct admission, admission based on the results of the aptitude test organized by VNU-HCM, and admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam.

Associate Professor Vu Hai Quan, Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, said that the university encourages units within the system to develop admission methods that combine multiple criteria in a comprehensive approach to students.

This also includes adjusting the structure of the competency assessment test to align with the 2018 general education curriculum and the innovations in the high school graduation exam from 2025 onwards.

"The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City does not want to change the aptitude test because the exam has been stable since 2017, but it cannot do otherwise."

"We encourage schools to rely on aptitude test scores, possibly supplementing them with high school exam scores. For example, if they wish, they could include scores in physics, chemistry, and biology in their admission criteria to ensure that candidates possess both general and specific competencies," Mr. Quan said.

By 2025, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will develop programs to nurture gifted students, training programs for talented individuals in basic science fields, and promote scientific research.

Accordingly, this university will proactively select and nurture outstanding students with passion, contributing to the achievements of the student excellence competition team through academic competitions and summer school.

Simultaneously, the program for nurturing gifted students at the High School for the Gifted will be implemented, with increased investment in materials, lecturers, and modern equipment to support the development of talents from the high school level.

Designing and operating talent training programs to foster creativity and the discovery of new knowledge based on self-study, research, practical experience, and various forms of student-faculty, student-scholar, and student-business interactions; supporting and funding talented students in research, scientific publications, entrepreneurship, and innovation; expanding the fields of study participating in talent training, with the expected result of reaching 5% of the total regular training quota of the entire Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
