Congress of the Gia Dinh Association of Vietnamese Photographers for the 2024

(NADS) – On the afternoon of November 29, 2024, the Congress of the Gia Dinh – Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists for the 2024-2029 term was solemnly held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, the branch also observed a minute of silence to commemorate the late photographer Hoang Thach Van, former Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, who built and developed the Gia Dinh branch in its early days and passed away during his term.

Continuing the tradition from previous terms, the Gia Dinh branch of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) is one of the strongest branches in the country. It comprises 30 members who are always passionate about creative work, including 3 members with the ES.VAPA title, 4 members who have received the Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Photography, 2 members with the EVAPA/G title, 4 members with the E.VAPA title, and 1 member with the PS.VAPA title.

During the past term, the Gia Dinh branch of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists had many members who served in organizing and judging competitions from the national to regional and local levels, such as the late artist Hoang Thach Van, Hoang Trung Thuy, Tran Quoc Dung, Hoang Quoc Tuan, Nguyen A, Huynh Pham Anh Dung, Nguyen Thanh Luy, Thai Phien…

During the past term, the Branch Association organized the art photography exhibition "The Levels of Emotion 2," a successful exhibition with high professional quality that was selected by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists for investment and awarded the A Prize. The Branch Association also organized photography trips to various provinces to enhance solidarity and brought many achievements to the Branch Association. Members also held many individual exhibitions, such as photographers Nguyen A, Tran Cao Bao Long, Thai Phien, Nguyen Luong Hieu, etc. In the summary of achievements of the past term, members won hundreds of awards both domestically and internationally.

The Congress heard the summary report and review report of the Executive Committee for the past term, the operational direction for the 2024-2029 term of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, and also offered strategic suggestions and contributions to the Association, such as proposing the establishment of a Photography Publishing House and adding the M.VAPA designation…

The General Assembly elected a new Executive Committee for the 2024-2029 term, consisting of 3 members. Photographer Nguyen Thanh Luy was re-elected by the collective to continue serving as the Branch Chairman, while photographers Huynh Pham Anh Dung and Do Trong Danh were elected as Vice-Chairmen.

During the new term, the Chapter collectively adopted a Resolution outlining specific goals and directions for activities, focusing on improving the quality of creative work, organizing exchange activities, exhibitions, and developing photography.

The Congress also elected a delegation to attend the 10th Congress of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (2025-2030), consisting of 3 appointed delegates, 10 official delegates, and 1 alternate delegate.
