Encourage and support technology investment

Most businesses and cooperatives in Dak Nong are currently operating in the agricultural sector. Therefore, there is a great need for investment to enhance the value of agricultural products, especially in terms of technology.

The coffee products of the Dak Plao Organic Agriculture, Trade and Service Cooperative, Dak Plao commune, Dak Glong district (Dak Nong province) are being produced organically.

The Dak Plao Organic Agriculture-Trade-Service Cooperative, located in Dak Plao commune, is a prime example of clean agricultural production in the locality. Established in 2022, the cooperative has 45 members. The members currently cultivate key crops such as coffee, durian, and citrus fruits.

According to Do Ngoc Man, director of the cooperative, the cooperative is newly established and therefore faces many difficulties in production. The machinery and equipment used for production are still rudimentary, and most of the work is done manually.

In particular, after harvesting, coffee is only dried in open fields, which creates many disadvantages when it rains heavily. Coffee that is harvested and exposed to rain will turn black and moldy, significantly affecting its quality. The value of the product and the income of the cooperative members are consequently affected.

“The cooperative is currently being guided by the Dak Glong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in preparing the necessary documents to receive support for a horizontal static drying machine from the National Target Program for New Rural Development. This will help stabilize the coffee drying process for cooperative members and improve product quality,” Mr. Man said.

Similarly, Sangs Farm Agricultural Cooperative, Quang Son commune also has a need to develop green-skin pomelo products.

The cooperative currently has 10 hectares of green-skinned pomelo orchards producing according to VietGAP standards. Each year, the orchard yields nearly 100 tons of pomelos. The market for the product has expanded both within and outside the province.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Hieu, representing the cooperative, said that the cooperative's goal is not just to sell fresh fruit. The unit is receiving support and guidance from relevant authorities on procedures to invest in machinery and technology for further processing of products such as pomelo jam and pomelo essential oil. Diversifying products will help increase the economic value for cooperative members.

In addition, the district also has more than 30 registered business branches. In 2023, these businesses and cooperatives contributed over 12.4 billion VND to the state budget.
