On March 28, Mr. Do Tan Suong, Director of the Dak Nong Department of Internal Affairs, announced that they are implementing the process of adding 264 teaching positions that have been allocated by the central government to ensure teaching and learning in the area.
Mr. Suong said that the People's Committee of Dak Nong province has requested relevant departments and agencies to urgently implement the recruitment of 264 allocated teaching positions for the 2024-2025 school year, in order to ensure that educational activities are not interrupted.
According to the Dak Nong Department of Internal Affairs, for the 2024-2025 school year, the province has been allocated an additional 260 teaching positions by the Ministry of Internal Affairs .
However, to date, this number has not been recruited, affecting the quality of teaching and learning.
The reason is the policy of temporarily suspending the recruitment of civil servants to implement the plan for restructuring and streamlining the administrative apparatus.
Many localities have developed recruitment plans but have been forced to temporarily suspend them pending further instructions. Some districts have completed the first round of the recruitment process, but have not yet been able to implement subsequent steps.
The People's Committee of Dak Nong province emphasized that the restructuring and streamlining of the administrative apparatus must not affect the quality of teaching and the rights of students. The People's Committee requested that departments and agencies promptly resolve obstacles and complete the recruitment of the allocated staff positions.
For districts that have already held the first round of the recruitment exam, the province has assigned the Department of Internal Affairs to take the lead and advise the Provincial People's Committee to seek the opinion of the Provincial Party Committee to continue implementing the next steps.
Therefore, localities should coordinate closely with the education sector and relevant units to ensure recruitment is carried out in accordance with regulations and on schedule, so that teachers can start teaching as soon as possible.
With a shortage of thousands of teachers, teaching is facing difficulties.
Previously, in 2024, the People's Committee of Dak Nong province requested the central government to add more than 2,700 personnel positions, including more than 2,100 teachers and 600 school staff.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, during the period 2015-2022, the downsizing of personnel focused mainly on the education sector, leading to a shortage of teachers in many schools and affecting teaching.
Although the province was allocated an additional 1,000 teachers between 2019 and 2023, it still had to meet the downsizing targets, leading to a prolonged shortage of personnel.
For the 2024-2025 school year, Dak Nong province will have over 200,000 students, with more than 500 additional classes. To meet the teaching and learning needs, the province is requesting an additional 1,000 positions for preschool teachers, 600 for primary school teachers, 300 for lower secondary school teachers, 200 for upper secondary school teachers, and 600 for school staff.
