Passion and desire to get rich from agriculture

Born in the year of the Pig (1983), businessman Le Manh Cuong (Zone 6, Dong Trung Commune, Thanh Thuy District) comes from a purely agricultural family. Perhaps because of this, from a young age, Cuong was passionate about farming; the smell of straw and plants nurtured his dream of becoming wealthy on his own homeland.

“Back then, my family was going through a tough time. I was both studying and being the main breadwinner. Later, it was my passion for agriculture that motivated me to start my own business in agricultural economics ,” Cường shared.

Le Manh Cuong's integrated livestock farming and date palm cultivation model has proven highly effective.

Recalling his early days as an entrepreneur, he said: "For young people starting out in agriculture , especially large-scale agriculture, there are many difficulties because they lack capital, experience, and support."

In 2006, after graduating from university, Mr. Cuong was recruited as a lecturer at the Central College of Transportation I. With his diligent nature from a young age, in addition to his teaching job, Mr. Cuong also worked as a technician for construction companies, hoping to save money to buy land and invest in agriculture.

After three years working as a lecturer and doing part-time jobs, Mr. Cuong saved enough money to buy 2 hectares of agricultural land in Tien Phong commune, Ba Vi district, Hanoi . In 2011, upon returning to Thanh Thuy district and seeing the abundant forest land there, Cuong conceived the idea of ​​buying back barren hillside land to build an agricultural farm. With determination and effort, in 2015, Mr. Cuong purchased 18.6 hectares of forest land in Trung Nghia commune (now Dong Trung commune) for 2.3 billion VND, beginning his investment in a comprehensive farm model with a total cost exceeding 30 billion VND in February 2016.

With capital raised from relatives, friends, and bank loans, after struggling through the early years of establishment, his farm now raises 600 breeding sows; cultivates 5 hectares of timber trees combined with 5 hectares of pomelo trees, 2 hectares for fish farming; 3,500 spiny softshell turtles; and 20,000 date palm trees.

Each year, the farm supplies the market with approximately 16,000 piglets, 15 tons of fish, turtles, etc., generating an average total revenue of 30 billion VND per year. It provides employment for 40 permanent and 20 seasonal workers with an average salary of 8-10 million VND per person per month. The farm's products are of high productivity and quality, earning the trust of the market.

During the investment and production process at the farm, Mr. Cuong actively applied scientific and technological advancements to production practices to achieve high efficiency. He combined high-tech livestock and crop farming processes to increase productivity and reduce costs. He applied circular agricultural production, making maximum use of waste products from livestock and crop farming, ensuring savings and environmental hygiene...

The "Millionaire Farmers" club, chaired by Mr. Cuong, consistently operates effectively, helping farmers find employment and increase their income.

Besides his passion and aspiration to get rich from agriculture, Mr. Cuong also participated in the district's "Millionaire Farmers" club and was trusted to be elected as its chairman. Throughout his activities, he has always wholeheartedly helped farmer members in difficult circumstances while maintaining the production and livestock activities of his farm, thus upholding the title of "Outstanding Farmer in Production and Business" at the central level every year. The "Millionaire Farmers" club has helped to develop agricultural tourism tours in the district, offering many sightseeing locations for visitors to the area.

With those achievements, Mr. Le Manh Cuong was awarded Certificates of Merit and Commendations by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Thanh Thuy District People's Committee. In 2022, Mr. Cuong was honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal from the President of Vietnam for his outstanding achievements in labor, production, and business, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
