H'Hen Niê, the Vietnamese beauty queen who holds the highest ranking at Miss Universe, believes that each competition has its own criteria, so when competing internationally, girls need to carefully study the criteria to prepare accordingly. "So that when you arrive at the competition and appear before the judges and organizers, you are ready to show that you are the girl they are looking for," the beauty queen shared.
For H'Hen Niê, a girl's success in an international competition lies in both her inherent qualities and strengths, coupled with the support and guidance of the national organization holding the rights. “Competing internationally is a strategic undertaking and requires serious investment if you want to achieve a high ranking. When I participated in Miss Universe 2018, I saw the meticulous and systematic preparation of the contestants and their organizations; everyone coordinated seamlessly and were ready to support each other when needed,” the beauty queen said. She also noted that in Vietnam, companies and organizations in the beauty industry have begun to invest more professionally, which is a positive sign.
Miss Phuong Khanh believes that good communication skills and fluency in foreign languages help contestants convey their words and thoughts to others. According to her, effective communication also serves as a bridge for the organizers to understand each representative, and is a way to promote Vietnam and its people to international friends. Meanwhile, H'Hen Niê stated: "Equally important is your mindset and how you share your views, express yourself, and connect with people."

According to Ms. Pham Kim Dung, representative of the unit holding the rights to 3 of the Big6 beauty pageants (Miss World , Miss International, and Miss Grand International) in Vietnam, finding a girl who meets all the criteria to win on the international stage is not easy at all.
Based on her 7 years of experience leading Vietnamese beauties to compete in top international beauty pageants and helping her "homegrown" contestants win two Big6 crowns, Ms. Dung assessed: "We almost fully understand the criteria of these competitions. However, the question is whether we are lucky enough to find a domestic contestant who truly meets those criteria."

Ms. Kim Dung shared that the process of creating an international beauty queen requires inherent qualities combined with a journey of self-improvement and upgrading through the efforts of the beauty queen herself and her management company. The "Queen of Beauty Pageants" cited Thanh Thủy's victory as an example. "We select candidates who meet the criteria of Miss International to train them in catwalk skills, interviewing, makeup skills… All of that is short-term preparation before the competition, easy to do and easy to invest in. But the process of comprehensively upgrading the candidate is a long-term process. We prepared both long-term and short-term preparations very well, and in the end, Thanh Thủy did very well in everything the organizers expected, in addition to her existing qualities," she analyzed.
In reality, a major international beauty pageant brings together a strong lineup of candidates from various countries and territories. Therefore, a winner's success depends not only on their inherent qualities or suitability to the criteria but also on a degree of luck.
Based on her experience, Ms. Pham Kim Dung shared: "There are years when our contestants are strong, but contestants from other countries are stronger. There are years when our contestants are strong, but contestants from other countries are not as strong as us. I still work in this field, and I know that the joys and sorrows continue like this."
