Taking place simultaneously in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City at 7am on Saturday, July 19, the 2025 University and College Admissions Choice Day is a meaningful and timely activity that meets the expectations of parents and students.
Many "unknowns"
These days, hundreds of thousands of students across the country are anxiously counting down to the announcement date to have the most important "fact" as a basis for the university and college admissions stage: the 2025 high school graduation exam scores (expected to be announced at 8:00 a.m. on July 16).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Quyen - Principal of Binh Chanh High School (HCMC) - shared that the school's students did well on the test this year, and the predicted scores were neither too high nor too low. For multiple-choice subjects, many students were able to compare with the answers from the department to predict their exam scores. The "unknown factor" will still be in the literature subject, and students planning to apply for a combination of subjects with this subject are waiting for the official scores.
According to Ms. Quyen, one thing that makes students this year more worried is that universities no longer consider early admissions. At this time in previous years, many students "finalized" their wishes by methods such as reviewing their transcripts, ability assessment test scores, etc.
This year, everyone has to "bet" on the general admission round. That means once they have the scores, the difficulty is that they have to set their preferences to best suit their abilities, favorite majors, and general score levels. The strategy for calculating and choosing preferences will have to be the smartest.
Mr. Doan Cong Thuan - Secretary of the Youth Union of Go Cong Dong High School (formerly Tien Giang ) - said that this year, the school's students registered for a variety of elective subjects, of which English was the biggest concern for many students because many students reported that the exam was more difficult than previous years. Many students calculated that they could only achieve a fairly average score with the English exam.
That is why Mr. Thuan believes that candidates who intend to take the English exam have many concerns. For example, between the A01 group (math - physics - English) and the A00 group (math - physics - chemistry), A01 students will certainly have a lower average score this year. So will a major at a university apply the same admission score or two different scores for these two groups? If the same score is used, will A01 students be at a disadvantage?
Come to be relieved, answered
According to admissions experts, the longer candidates are waiting for scores and preparing to register, supplement, and adjust their university and college admission wishes, the more they need to access accurate and complete information from many sources.
Master Pham Thai Son - Admissions Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - advised candidates to closely follow the announcements from the Ministry of Education and Training, the timelines for adjusting their wishes as well as refer to the benchmark scores of previous years... But equally important is that you need to hear from many perspectives from experts, from universities, from current students to make a choice without haste or emotion.
In that context, the 2025 university and college admissions selection festival organized simultaneously by Tuoi Tre newspaper in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on July 19 is considered a timely opportunity for candidates and parents to clear up all their concerns and questions.
In addition to receiving advice from reputable consultants, candidates and parents also have the opportunity to directly access representatives of more than 100 universities, colleges, vocationaltraining institutions and study abroad consulting units at home and abroad.
Each consulting booth has a team of specialists, ready to answer specific questions for each case, helping students understand clearly about the major, quota, minimum score, admission method, tuition fees, career opportunities after graduation... No longer having to search scattered on the internet, you can compare information between schools right at the fair, thereby forming a clearer picture of the right choice for you.
In addition, the in-depth consultation sessions on the main stage will bring updated analysis from experts from the Ministry of Education and Training, major universities as well as experts from prestigious universities with many years of experience in admissions. Topics expected to "heat up" the stage include benchmark scores, score conversion, arranging wishes, choosing appropriate methods and combinations, etc.
In particular, candidates can receive 1-1 consultation with experts, directly ask questions to teachers as well as the admissions team of the schools. This is an opportunity for personal questions from "should I choose major X at school A or B?" to "should I prioritize my favorite major or my strong major?" to be thoroughly answered.
The 2025 university and college admission selection day took place at the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University and the University of Technology (Hanoi). Parents and candidates entered freely and did not need to register in advance.
