"Honoring culinary cultural titles is not only a tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to the kitchens of their homeland, but also a strategic step to affirm the brand of Vietnamese cuisine," shared Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman of the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, at the launch event.
Elevating Vietnamese culinary culture
Culinary culture is a strength of Vietnam and plays an important role on the world culinary map. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky cited specific examples to support this assertion.
A few years ago, Kuwait requested Vietnam's assistance in sending two skilled chefs to a luxury hotel in the country to introduce traditional Vietnamese cuisine.

According to the plan, the two chefs were supposed to work on introducing Vietnamese cuisine for two weeks. However, in reality, they had to stay and work in Kuwait for almost two months. The reason was that there were so many customers who came to try the Vietnamese food and all praised it as delicious.
"This event opens up a new direction. We can 'export' Vietnamese chefs abroad to promote Vietnamese cuisine. Currently, the association is also receiving similar offers," Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky emphasized.
Therefore, according to Mr. Ky, the awarding of Vietnamese culinary cultural titles is a powerful driving force to bring the essence of our cuisine to the world, alongside the goal of making Vietnam a leading destination for culinary culture and tourism ."
The program goes beyond simply awarding titles; it also serves as a foundation for building a database of culinary artisans, experts, and researchers, promoting training and apprenticeship programs for the younger generation, and creating opportunities for artisans to participate in national and international culinary events.
Spreading influence within the community, reaching international levels.
The annual awarding of Vietnamese culinary cultural titles will gradually establish a tradition of honoring culinary arts, contributing to elevating the culinary profession to the same level as other art forms in the national cultural life. This is an important preparatory step towards establishing a National Culinary Award.

The selection process for Vietnamese Culinary Arts Artists is conducted at three levels: Vietnamese Culinary Arts Artist, Elite Vietnamese Culinary Arts Artist, and National Vietnamese Culinary Arts Artist.
These are professional honors awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the culinary field, meeting criteria related to talent, dedication, social influence, and a commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
In addition, the program will also award honorary titles in two categories: Ambassador of Vietnamese Culinary Culture and Researcher of Vietnamese Culinary Culture.
There are two rounds of admissions:
From now until November: Consideration for the title of Vietnamese Culinary Culture Artisan.
From November onwards: Consideration will be given to the titles of Vietnamese Culinary Culture Researcher and Vietnamese Culinary Culture Ambassador.
According to the organizers, the selection process is transparent, non-profit, and non-commercial. Nominees or nominating organizations pay any fees.
The ceremony honoring Vietnamese Culinary Culture Artisans is expected to take place in November.
