New developments in the case of the dwarf performing at Yamal's party

Facing the risk of receiving a heavy penalty, Lamine Yamal recently received support from insiders, namely the group of dwarves he hired to attend his coming of age party.

The story began the day before, when Spanish media released photos showing a group of people with dwarfism (often called dwarfs) performing at Yamal's 18th birthday party.

These images immediately sparked a major controversy. The Association of People with Dwarfism in Spain (ADEE) asserted that using people with dwarfism as entertainment tools was an insult to human dignity, reinforced social prejudice, and constituted serious discrimination.

The association said it would sue Yamal, and under Spanish law, Yamal could face imprisonment if found guilty of insulting dwarves.

The Spanish Ministry of Social Rights immediately forwarded the case file to the public prosecutor's office responsible for the rights of persons with disabilities, requesting an investigation under Law 15/2022 on Equal Treatment and Article 510 of the Criminal Code.

If found guilty of publicly insulting a person with a disability, Yamal could face hefty fines, be banned from public activities, and even a prison sentence of up to four years.

Nevertheless, public opinion largely sided with Yamal, arguing that his invitation to the group to perform was simply a matter of agreement.

One of the short actors attending the event spoke out in defense of the young star, arguing that the criticism was going too far and hurting those who were supposedly the "victims" in the incident.

Speaking to RAC1 and quoted by Marca, Goal , and Times of India , he clarified: “Nobody insulted us. We went there to work, legally, professionally, and voluntarily. Why shouldn’t we be allowed to do what we love, just because our bodies are different?”

He also emphasized that ADEE's criticism of the event actually hurt people like him, as it inadvertently denied them the opportunity to work and earn a living legitimately.

"We're not monkeys in a circus. We can dance, tell jokes, serve drinks, perform magic tricks. We have the right to express our abilities just like anyone else," he explained.

The fact that these dwarves spoke up to "defend" Yamal is very significant for the Barca superstar, easing the pressure he is currently under.

However, even if all the dwarves who attended the party voiced their support for Yamal, the investigation would still proceed.
