Future trends
Recently, Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) officially inaugurated the rooftop solar power project at the SEV factory in Yen Phong Industrial Park, Bac Giang . Previously, Tinh Loi Garment Company in Nam Sach Industrial Park (Hai Phong) also deployed rooftop solar power. The rise of global green standards, along with emission reduction requirements from major export markets such as the EU, the United States and Japan, are making it urgent for businesses in industrial parks to switch to renewable energy. Rooftop solar power has therefore become the optimal solution in terms of cost and sustainability for many reasons.
Firstly, the use of renewable energy is an inevitable, even mandatory trend in the future of global production. Bringing solar power into production activities brings many practical benefits, helping businesses optimize costs and integrate into the global supply chain.

More and more businesses in industrial parks are deploying rooftop solar power.
Zero-emission solar power is often considered “green electricity”. This is the key factor for a company’s products to conquer demanding markets such as Europe, the US, and Japan, where standards for sustainable development and the environment are increasingly stringent.
For every 1 mW of solar power installed, businesses can reduce emissions by about 2.2 tons of CO2/day. This helps exporting businesses easily achieve international emission reduction certificates such as CERs, VCUs, GS VERs.
Second, by using natural energy sources, businesses will be able to use electricity at a cheaper price than EVN's selling price.
In fact, businesses can save an average of 15% on monthly electricity costs (compared to the price of electricity purchased from EVN) throughout the project life cycle.
The time to deploy rooftop solar power installation at Tinh Loi only takes a few months. In return, on hot summer days or peak periods, solar power directly contributes to reducing the overload of the national grid, thereby minimizing the frequency of power outages and ensuring stable and continuous production activities.
Third, tax incentives are also applied to organizations and individuals installing rooftop solar power systems (according to Decree No. 135/2024/ND-CP dated October 22, 2024), helping to reduce initial investment costs and facilitate the development of renewable energy.
Procedures for investing in rooftop solar power that businesses need to know
The Government has just issued Decree No. 135/2024/ND-CP dated October 22, 2024, stipulating mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power (Decree 135). With many major changes in terms of mechanism, this is considered an important step forward in promoting green energy and sustainable development.
Notably, Decree 135 clearly states that systems not connected to the national grid will be exempt from electricity operation licenses and will not be limited in terms of installed capacity.

Rooftop solar power at Phuc Dien Industrial Park managed and operated by IMC
Although it brings clear benefits and receives support from the policy, in the actual implementation process, businesses need to clearly understand the procedures and legal processes.
To meet the conditions for deploying rooftop solar power, businesses must prepare and complete a large amount of documents such as: business registration; minutes of the meeting of the board of members; minutes of the capital contribution meeting; fire prevention acceptance; construction permit; financial report; environmental records; impact report related to electrical equipment;... In addition to preparing enough documents, businesses must work with many agencies such as the Industrial Park Management Board, the Department of Industry and Trade, local authorities... Lack of experience can cause businesses to prolong progress from several weeks to several months, affecting production plans.
Besides, due to the incomplete policies, businesses may be delayed in the implementation process and affect their psychology, causing discouragement.
Units with practical experience in industrial parks such as IMC are playing an important role in helping businesses shorten time, optimize costs and ensure progress. IMC is the operating management unit in 14 industrial parks across the country and has a lot of experience in preparing procedures for deploying rooftop solar power.
According to IMC, procedures in industrial parks are often quite complicated. Thanks to consulting experience and implementing many previous projects, IMC can help businesses significantly shorten the time to prepare documents and ensure that the project operates according to plan.
IMC is also the unit that lays the foundation for the low-emission industrial park model through specific solutions such as replacing trees to create ecological landscapes, converting lighting to LED lights, and monitoring wastewater in real time, ensuring harmony between environmental, economic and social efficiency according to the ESG model.
In the context of increasingly strict environmental standards, the use of rooftop solar power not only helps save costs but also creates a competitive advantage when participating in the global supply chain. The companionship of experienced units such as IMC will help businesses remove legal bottlenecks, shorten implementation time and effectively utilize sustainable energy sources, gradually approaching ESG.
