The 24-hour strike at major German airports on March 10 resulted in the cancellation of more than 3,400 flights, affecting half a million passengers.

According to AFP, citing information from the German Airports Association (ADV), approximately 3,400 flights, including those to and from Berlin, were affected by the strike, impacting around 500,000 passengers.
At Frankfurt, the European nation's busiest airport, operator Fraport said no passengers were able to board planes and disruptions would "almost certainly" affect travel.
Airports in Bremen, Cologne, Dortmund, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart, and others were also affected. According to DW, the nationwide strike brought air travel to a near standstill at 13 German airports.

Last week, the Verdi union said it was calling on public sector workers and around 23,000 employees of ground-based service providers to strike to send a message to management.
"We regret the inconvenience this strike will cause passengers. But without the pressure from the strike, the negotiations would not have progressed," said Verdi Vice President Christine Behle.

The Verdi union is demanding a collective wage agreement for nearly 2.5 million public sector employees.
This union is demanding an 8% wage increase, or at least 350 euros (380 USD) per month for workers, and increased bonuses for particularly stressful work.
They explained: "We were forced to stage this warning strike because employers have yet to offer a deal in the ongoing collective bargaining for public sector employees and have shown no willingness to meet our legitimate demands."
However, the German government and local authorities said Verdi's proposals were not financially feasible.
