Quang Ngai province delegation visits and works in the US and Canada

From August 14-18, the working delegation of Quang Ngai province led by Mr. Vo Phien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, visited and worked in the US and Canada.

From August 14-15, 2023, in Houston, Texas (USA), the delegation met and worked with corporations and companies in the fields of oil and gas, energy, providing industrial environmental treatment technology that meets the standards of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) such as Baker Hughes, Energy Transfer, Energy Capital Vietnam, ExxonMobil, An Phat Group...

With the active support of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston, Energy Capital Vietnam Group, Globalinx Group and Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, Quang Ngai province successfully organized the Conference on Cooperation and Investment in the field of petrochemical refining and energy in Dung Quat Economic Zone (EZ).

The conference was attended by 32 delegates from American associations, businesses and corporations operating in Houston in the fields of oil refining, petrochemicals, energy, and import and export.

This is the first time Quang Ngai province has organized an investment conference in Houston - the oil and energy capital of the United States.

At the conference, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Management Board of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Provincial Industrial Zones Ha Hoang Viet Phuong introduced the investment environment in Dung Quat Economic Zone, investment incentive policies and key projects in the petrochemical and energy sectors that Quang Ngai province is looking to call for foreign direct investment (FDI) projects.

Mr. Khuong Le Thanh, Member of the Board of Directors of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, introduced the formation and development of Dung Quat Oil Refinery - the first oil refinery in Vietnam in the past 15 years.

He expressed his desire to call on American investors to participate in the project to expand the refinery phase 2 and cooperate in supplying crude oil and environmental treatment technology according to the commitment of COP 26.

At the conference, investors expressed their interest and desire to learn more about cooperation opportunities with Quang Ngai in the fields of oil and gas, energy, plastic resin production and seafood import to the US; at the same time, they asked many questions about investment procedures, visa issuance, and cooperation methods with Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company.

On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation conducted a field survey at the new Technology Center of Backer Hughes Corporation - one of the world's largest corporations in the field of oil and gas services, providing technology and environmental treatment solutions according to COP 26 commitments in 120 countries and surveyed the Petrochemical Refinery Center of ExxonMobil Corporation.

* From August 17-18, the delegation arrived in Canada and had a working session with Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Vinh Quang and the Vietnam Trade Office; and surveyed the transportation system in the capital city of Ottawa.

During the working sessions, Ambassador Pham Vinh Quang and Vietnamese Consul General in Houston, Texas, USA Nguyen Trac Ba both highly appreciated the proactiveness and efforts of Quang Ngai province in seeking cooperation and investment opportunities.

The two diplomats emphasized that Vietnam's diplomatic missions abroad are ready to support and act as a bridge to promote economic cooperation as well as other fields between Quang Ngai province and foreign partners to become more and more substantial, contributing to the effective implementation of economic diplomacy in the country's process of deep and comprehensive international integration.
